Entry #B-5: "Broad" [An Inn in Violet City, Video]

Jun 27, 2011 00:17

[L's pokegear flickers on. Judging from the height and position, it is on a bookshelf in a room at a well-furnished and comfortable-looking inn. A television is well within view of the camera feed, and the room is empty save for L's Haunter Slightly ( Read more... )

[Oh... well, if it's Bakura, L doesn't mind turning the video on again. Even if he looks pretty grumpy and petulant, all things considered.]

I am, too.

[He tugs at a few strands of his dark hair, looking distracted. There's no way he can't bring this up.]

When we were... you know. Do you remember anything that happened?

If we're remembering the same events, then... yes. I'd say that "surreal" was a good word for it.

And I suppose I owe you some measure of thanks. I will not accept any testimony that claims that none of it was real.

[there's no way this would escape Light's attention, and so soon after their last conversation, too. L did look as if he was in a coma, if anything... There's just so much he could say to L about all of this, be it to mock him, to perhaps offer a bit of sympathy on the matter, or maybe even to congratulate him on having gained what seemed to be a girlfriend - he supposes there's a first for everything.]

[but he'll just settle with this.] Looks like you've been having a hard time. [he may sound a little sorry for him, all things considered.]

So nice of you to offer that novel and insightful remark.

[L's not in the best of moods, currently, and he's probably taking more of it out on the network than he means to.]

No one must have told you, but very recently a large percentage of the individuals in Johto lost their souls. I was among them.

[How snarky. But while he might be a little irritated by the response, he understands L's predicament, and chooses not to comment on it. Besides, there's a more pressing matter.]

Lost... their souls? [he repeats, in disbelief. But this is only temporary. A new world, a standard of 'normal'. Not that he thinks this is supposed to be normal, of course.] Do elaborate.

The odds are rather slim that it will happen again, as everyone is currently pretty well aware of how to deal with the problem that caused it all, but it was a hot mess. Insects called Shedinjas were making off with the souls of individuals who, through ignorance or poor luck, stared too long at the markings on their backs. They spent anywhere from a few days to an entire week trapped in a different dimension, their souls representing their own self-concepts, as they fought to stay out of the darker places.

[Extremely defensive]

I would not call her anything besides her name.

Rest assured that I will pass the message on to him.

[He turns toward the marked-up wall, pinching the bridge of his nose.]

I need to try to clean this up before she gets back...

[No point, now, keeping his face hidden, except maybe to spite this guy.]

Well, you are the doctor. I suppose you must be right. Flawless deduction, really.

[And while Theresa is out of the room, Sparrow will abuse the pokegear.

OH WHAT'S THIS. WHAT'S THIS. WHAT IS GOING ON OH. OH. OH. OH.]

Tuuu!

Oh! Are you that guy? That sleeping guy? The one who looked at the bug? Are you? Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

Oh... Oh wait.

Hey! Hey! Where is the ninetails! I want to talk to her! Hey! Hey! Hey! Is she there? Hey! Can you hear me? Hey! Hello? Hellooo? Hi? Hi! Hello?

[L stares blankly at the excitable little bird pokemon. Of course, to his ears, it just sounds like "Natu tu tu tu tu Natuuu tu tu tu tu Natu Natuuuu!" And it sort of gives him a headache. He heads to the dresser where several pokeballs rest, selecting one and pressing the button to release its inhabitant.]

"Niiiinetales!"

[Kith recognizes the little bird, of course, and starts conversing animatedly with her. L carefully sets aside the pokegear, going back to his candy.]

"Little one, still so many questions! How are you, and how is your trainer? As you can see, mine has awakened to our great relief.

[She might have forgotten that fact. ... Actually, she entirely forgot it, if her excited hopping and chattering despite the clear lack of pokemon in the picture was of any indication.

Of course, she looks immensely pleased when Kith appears, though at this point it was impossible for her to get any more excited without actually leaving the screen.]

Oh I'm fine! And the boy is fine, and my friend is fine, and my trainer is also fine! All fine all the time! We're in Cherrygrove! I can't find any cherries, why do they call it Cherrygrove when there aren't any cherries? It's so depressing.

He really is super skinny. What's he eating? Is he eating enough of it? We bought food! We can bring food soon! And he can eat that! And I can bring my food and he can have that too! Oh! Oh! Oh oh oh oh it can be a picnic!

[Kith stretches in a leisurely fashion, her many tails curling around her body as she makes herself comfortable.]

Little Sparrow, I promise that there is time for you to say all that you wish to at half the speed. But I am gladdened to hear that you are all well.

If you are in Cherrygrove (and I don't know why it's named such), we are only a town away from each other. And so I believe that a picnic is truly a fine idea, especially for feeding up my trainer after a week of not eating.
