Before 2011 arrives, let's put 2010 away
It's 10 pm here in Washington. Only two hours before midnight.
2010 has been a rather meh year for me. First , I had lost my very first job due to me being an irresponsible fuckhead and trust me, I really regret not knowing better until after the job was gone. Soon after that, I had the biggest fandom fallout I have ever lived to experience. I may only be 21, but I've had enough of fandom experience, and House not only was the best and biggest TV fandom I've ever been in, the longest I've loved (four consecutive years), and it's been the most passionate I've ever felt towards a pairing. It was also the worst feeling ever to fall out of love with it. Season 6 of House was doing pretty good up until the last two episodes, and in all honesty, I thought I could make it through Huddy because House/Wilson isn't a ship you can just wipe off the screen, and throughout the years, House/Wilson fans have stood strong towards all the threat and wank. So it didn't really occur to me that I would actually give up so soon, and so easily without a fight. (Not that this is relevant, but I'm not happy about my grades this fall either, which is another thing on my list as to why 2010 kinda sucks.)
Fandom has become more than just a place I go to when I'm tired of dealing with real life and help me forget my troubles. It's becoming a hobby, like people who make model airplanes, or make scrapbooks, fandom is what I do on my spare time. It's more than just going around screaming and flailing and acting like a nut job with other equally crazy fans, you write, you make icons, you read meta that makes you think, you find a creative outlet. Fandom is like a million different hobbies combined into one.
So you can imagine how painful it was for me to leave the fandom I've grown so accustomed to for four years. The next couple of months after season 6 of House ended, I began floating around, looking for new shows to obsess over and new fandoms to join. I had been watching Leverage since the beginning of the year. I was fond of the show and my OTP happened to be slash, so I figured that perhaps I should join the Leverage fandom. Unfortunately, the fandom was wayyy to small and inactive for me, after being in a big fandom like House, small fandoms couldn't fill my appetite. Plus, season 3 of Leverage sucked (like every other show, FU mid-series curse), so that was the end of me wanting to join fandom.
I had a handful of shows I watch, and while they were all pretty good, I didn't feel passionate towards them. Besides, either the fandom was too small, it didn't even exist at all, or, I have an het OTP. If you know me at all, you should know that I although I like het pairings, joined the shipper comms, and have written and read het fic, don't really do the whole het fandom thing anymore (not since Snape/Hermione in HP). I'm a pure slasher at heart. SO I WAS FANDOMLESS FOR THREE MONTHS

THIS MIRACLE HAPPENED
Like I said in my previous fandom meme post,
Holy crap, people just as passionate about the show and pairing of Sherlock/John (or general slash) as I am? Amazing graphics, fic, fan vids, meta, NO ACTUAL SHIPPING WARS (omg what universe am I living in right), minimal wank, 95% of the fans are slashers, the show allowing people from all different parts of the world come together and squee and act like a bunch of loonies? IT'S LIKE A FUCKING DOUBLE RAINBOW. SO INTENSE.
The show doesn't only have an awesome fandom, but itself is already something that should be given ever single tv award that exists (GOLDEN GLOBES AND SAG ESPECIALLY). The writing, the cinematography, the acting, EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SHOW IS BEAUTIFUL.
Sherlock and the pairing of Sherlock/John made 2010 a better year for me. I never re-watch my favorite episodes of House over 10 times. I've watched all three episodes of Sherlock for, dare I say, close to 100 times.
I would want nothing more than to end my year with nothing but Sherlock.
