I dont know how many of you are geeky enough to have already seen this, but for those of you who aren't, I would highly recommend the light reading offered here.
In short the letter outlines the gross abuse of employee trust and contractual obligation rife at EA publishing. Now, when I was little, EA were gods, they made games like Indiana Jones and the Lost City of Atlantis and shit, they had some damn fine titles....... 15 years on and 4000 lisenced sports games later, along with a global contest to find "EAs gamer of the year" (for which you have to be an adept at..... sports games. Sports games hardly even make the cut as 'games' period. Wheres Tekken? where's xenogears? where's fucking PONG!?) they have turned themselves into a joke that only true gamers can really appreciate the humour of. However, noone is truely immune from some form of comeuppance, and it seems that for once one of these greedy fuckass companies might have to learn some respect for the people they bleed for thier money. The scary part is, Microsoft, Sony, and at one time even Sega (record holders - an employee died of exhaustion at his desk after working 3 weeks sans breaks or human contact, had his meals brought to him and slept in a bag next to his desk) operate under strikingly similar practises but are thought of as too big strong and legally bulletproof to have taken on. Sega have since become a different kind of company, emasculated by the undersales of the dreamcast into a meek developing firm, ther superpower times of the late 80s and early 90s forgotten, and the lack of human understanding regained. Now the problem lies in american houses. I beseech any and all of those who work for one of these vampires: learn to speak japanese and MOVE! Or find a good lawer and a few kindred souls. Or invest in some heavy artillery, you know, the kind made of steel and filled with things that go "bang"....
I want to rant more, but anger looms to the point of clouding my mind, I shall continue this after Im done packing a housefull of shit up and had a smoke and at that stage if I remember writing this Ill come back.....
