We're going to have to move out - soon

That's the terrifying words Samantha had called me with the other day. A neighbor of ours had supposedly heard that the communal board had agreed upon plans for the accelerated implementation of the reform plans for the block of buildings we're living in. And, since we are living here on a 'temporary basis', only until plans for our building will be put through, we can actually be put out on the street on a 2-month notice. As she called me while I was at work, I couldn't find information to take the edge of that news, I was fighting hard to focus at the work at hand, rather than worrying about things.

Back home, I quickly searched the web, which should at least mention such a big decision -in local terms, it's a rather big thing ;)-, but so far, I haven't found any recent, dated information that either supports or contradicts the words being spoken. With that, I suppose we're safe for the moment. The only timeline I have found for the complex is beginning of works after the summer of 2010, which, I think, is a rather realistic schedule.

For the next weeks however, I'll be on the lookout for information concerning these plans, as there may be a certain time span between an actual meeting and the publishing of its minutes. During these weeks, I'll probably will be thinking -as I did in the past days- about the alternatives; moving back into my parents' house probably being the scariest of alternatives. I'm pretty sure though, we'll have to move out well before we can get something through a social housing program, with average waiting lists of 7 years, and up to 10 years for the better residences. I certainly hope to be graduated and emigrated by then.
