This place is unfamiliar. Why is everything suddenly in ruin?

…I was with Kira merely 2 minutes before. Although Yagami Light possessed a Notebook that could kill, it was due to the Shinigami, Ryuk, that he had it in the first place. Ryuk was completely neutral in the Kira matter, so it can be concluded that he did not grant Kira the powers of teleportation or the like. As unreal as that can seem, it is not quite as impossible as I might have thought before learning of the Notebooks.
Landscape of this unfamiliar place-everything is in ruin and there is no vegetation in sight. If I did not know better, I would say that this place had been the target of a nuclear bomb at some point, considering the mass destruction and the lack of vegetation. I will investigate further into this…I must, for my own survival.
