If there is heaven, it's shining down on us in approval.
I don't mean to get all holy on ya, but seriously - this wedding couldn't have been planned any smoother. Everything is falling into place so quickly. I LOVE it.
Last Saturday I went to get measure for my dress. They will "start production" as soon as I find a design that I want to have for the front torso. I have, however, already thrown down the deposit for the dress, meaning that I have pledged to fund it to completion. I came up with some really great ideas for this dress, some of which the dressmaker would like to recommend to other clients. He told me that I should be a designer. That was flattering. The dress is gong to be AMAZING. The dress would've cost $6000. Let's just say I am getting it for less than 1/6 of that.
The venue selection couldn't have been better. We had a venue in mind that we really had our hearts set on. They hadn't given us a quote for about 2 weeks because they wanted to meet us in person first. Our hopes were building, even though we had no pricing information. We tried hard not to put all our eggs into one basket. After we met and discussed options, the event coordinator sent us a ridiculously, outrageously, unbelievably decent deal, all considered. It really was a steal. Moreover, Tammar (the event coordinator) said that if there are any shows that we would like to see, she would put us on the guest list so that we can dodge cover. UM, AWESOME! in sum, they offered us: 3 bartenders, 2 security guards, audio/PA, complete catering for 125 people, 2 levels of usable space (which includes 2 bars), 3 servers, cleaning service, an event manager, and entry into any show we want to see at the venue, all for under 3k.
And then there are all of the free services that we are being provided: a live band, two DJs, a cosmotologist (who does EXCELLENT work, btw), 2 florists, 2 bakers, and an officiant. Holy crap. I'm probably having a $15,000 wedding for a fraction of that. All said and done, dress included, this will cost us much less.
If that isn't luck, than it must be the approval of the heavens. We are truly fortunate to be surrounded by such generosity and kindness.
Remember that one time when I was all like "fu(k weddings"? Yeah, WTF?!! This is awesome. This will be the party of the century. Let's get crunktified.
