This is not likely to make me popular either with you or your flist, but you haven't exactly seemed to be coping well lately. This maternal interference is likely the result of a) that situation, and b) your mother not really knowing any other way to resolve that situation.

Might I suggest clueing her in to your life instead? If she feels she's getting the info anyway, she'll be less inclined to dig, and at that point maybe you can have some secrets.

She does care, but unfortunately her method of solving the situation seems to be incompatible with your wishes for independence and happiness. So work around her, as I'm sure you know she's not going away far better than I.

And one should never think that parents are not proud of their children no matter how they turn out. They are always proud of you, no matter how minor you believe your achievements to be - and to date, Danica, your achievements have been significant.

We should catch up. Been missing you and your weird flatmate. Might pop in sometime after work next week, if I'm still welcome. :)
