Time amongst the roses [Botany - Open]
De hadn't rushed down to Botany as soon as he had received his present , but he had wanted to, rather a lot. He'd stayed away, for a couple of days, reading whatever he could find on the computers about taking care of roses, and generally refreshing his memory. He didn't want to go down there and accidentally kill all the flowers. Roses being such delicate things, it was a possibility, after all.
It reached a point where he had to go down there, to see exactly what he was working with, to see what he could do and what he could acheive. Venturing almost tentatively out of his quarters - alone - it wasn't often he did that - and having left a note for Len and Bill, telling them where he had gone, De made his way slowly down to the botany area, a few wrong turns along the way.
It wasn't hard to find the little plot that had been set aside from him. De had been rather worried that no one in Botany would know what on earth he was talking about, and it had taken a deep breath and no small amount of confidence to walk through those doors. But he had done it, and now here he was, standing next to his very own space. He had been pleased to discover a few already established rose bushes included in his plot, as well as some smaller ones in an earlier stage of growth, and there was certainly a bit of space to plant his own seedlings, if he ever made any. De had been having some thoughts along those lines, but what he had been thinking was advanced, really, so he put the thought aside for a moment, and concentrated on trying to work out how they regulated the conditions for growing these roses, and what else he could do with his new found flowers.
