the past four days are definitely worth writing about..
It all started Thursday.
After much going back and forward.. Nadia and I ended up going to Depeche Mode together. Before the show we went to one of the bars across the street, originally just to get a pack of cigs. I decided i wanted a drink. When we noticed they weren't asking for id's we decided to stay for a couple more. Neither of us had interest in seeing the opening act and we had decent floor tickets (seating concert) so we weren't in a hurry. After a while we noticed we were the only ones around. We quickly make it to the stadium, as we were walking in Depeche Mode started playing.
The show was AMAZING. without doubt the best one I've been too. Seriously I'm still not over how great it was. they played a lot of the fan favorites, the new songs sounded great live, the band was flawless. Like i said, best show ever! afterward we went back to the bar and drank a little bit more.. it was good fun. The whole night was great I made it back to my place around 2 am. I woke up for work at 7 am with a hangover and needing sleep. I almost called in sick but "responsible" me decided to suck it up go, besides it seemed like it was going to be a slow day and it was for most of the day.
Around 5 pm I get asked if i would be interested in driving some equipment to New Orleans overnight. All expenses paid and i would be flown back to Orlando, plus getting paid for doing it of course. Ever since the drive i took to Atlanta i've been wanting to take another long road trip by my self. So I said yeah. Iwas leaving Orlando by 7:30 pm friday night. I drove a big diesel twin cab truck. I had to take the route they gave me ( I-95 to I-10 and then a big detour in Louisiana) so the drive turned out to be longer than i what i was expecting. The truck's governor was set at 95mphs I tried to keep it at that speed as much as possible, I was still tired from the night before and needing sleep so I figured the quicker I get there the sooner I'll sleep. After 9 1/2 hours and 3 double shot espressos. one large frappuccino and two very large cokes. I arrived around 5 am eastern time 4 am central saturday morning. The drive it self wasn't bad, time when by fast.
I Woke up around 9 or 10 am and then went to the famous Cafe Du Monde to have their Beignets and Coffee. It was very good stuff.. but very messy things to eat. After that I went back to the hotel and stayed in bed for the rest of the day. As soon as it started getting dark i got ready and left to go explore the French Quarter by my self. Bourbon Street was walking distance from the hotel. I started going from place to place. by 10 i had lost count of how many drinks i had.. I walked all over the place with a drink in my hand at all times. When i finally got tired of walking i went to spend the last hours I had (they're still under a curfew) at the Whirling Dervish.. with all the post-Katrina issues they still have, it was still tons of fun. I didn't end up going to bed until 4 am central and again had to wake up early to catch my flight this morning... New Orleans to Houston and then one from Houston to Orlando. and now here I am.
