This has nothing to do with LGBT rights anymore...

They canceled the gay pride. Yesterday, less than 24 hours before it was supposed to take place. The police said they couldn't guarantee safety, because the fascist kept making public threats for the past few weeks. Not that they arrested anyone.By that, they pretty much told the clerofascistic organizations and soccer fans that they are stronger than the state. And not only they banned the Parade - they prohibited ALL PUBLIC GATHERING "till further notice". I'd honestly become and anarchist now if all five anarchist activists weren't in jail at the moment.

I suppose I should mention some of the events that happened last week. Other than the more and more frequent calls to lynch and plans on breaking up the parade with improvised flame throwers, another thing happened. A group of French guys were visiting Belgrade and had found a nice cafe downtown. Thursday afternoon, in broad daylight, they were attacked by a gang of soccer fans with metal poles. The also tried to stick fire torches in their faces and mouths. One of  the French guys is still critical. Wonderful, they practically killed a guy for nothing.

In any case, I thought they made their point - no gay pride, no taunting them. That is, I thought that until this morning, when I heard two Australian tourists got the same treatment. From some guy who claims to be an inside source, I heard it was because they were gay, not foreign. Nothing about it on official news, and I don't know him very well, so... Just came to me - I'm actually wondering if it makes any difference. Bad.

My cousin from Croatia called to say he'd be coming sometime next week. I was pretty damn close to telling him not to come, even though we've never had any trouble while he was here before.
