I've been doing a lot of sitting on my couch and staring off into space this past week, but I still managed to get some things done.
I made the two J-Treats episodes that I've already uploaded, and I filmed a special episode talking about the chocolate-covered habanero chips that I really like:
Not like I have time to be going around making non-Kitkat-related shows anyways. No sooner than I get caught up do I fall behind again:
"Custard Pudding"
I guess I'm on a diet again. My face has gotten noticeably bigger, and I aim to fix that. The first thing I changed was how much I had them give me for lunch at work/school. Everybody eats the same "school lunch" as everyone else, only the teachers get larger portions that the kids, understandably. Well, those lunches range from 650-950+ calories on any given day, and that's just what they print on the monthly menus. I can only assume that adult portions are even worse. Well now, I've had them give me a quarter the amount of rice that they usually do, I don't drink the milk, because it's something like 8%, and I stock on veggies and soup instead. I tell them to give what they'd give a 2nd-grader.
Dinner has been soup and salad, and will probably continue to be. Being low on money also makes this a sure thing. By salad, I mean some chopped lettuce, green peppers, and carrots with some pepper and a little lemon juice for flavoring. I also have some "spicy vegetable consomme" soup on the side.
Last week for breakfast, I had peanut butter on some bread with a banana (often mixed), some milk, and these nicely portioned bran crackers/cookies. I also have some milk and more bran treats right when I get home from work to try and keep that whole "4-5 small meals" thing going. This week I'm switching to bran flakes, and I'm debating whether or not to buy raisins and throw them in there.
I'm not being a food nazi about this whole thing though. Jess and I went out the to mall in Maebashi yesterday, and I had bibimbap for dinner and some Baskin Robbins for dessert. It's just not going to be an everyday thing anymore. I sure hope I was reading the box incorrectly, but if I wasn't, then the Old El Paso Taco Kit tacos that I used to make once a month or so had around 1,000 calories PER TACO when prepared as instructed. Keeeeeeeripes!
Speaking of going to the mall with Jess, I went there to buy an application for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test in July, seeing how I bombed the one in December, but they weren't on sale yet. I still need to check and see if they will send my results to America, seeing how I will have moved back once they are sent out. When I was in Tokyo a couple weeks ago, Yuki gave me a gift card to any bookstore in Japan, because her kids apparently never use the ones they get from their grandparents. So, she gave it to me on the condition that I use it to buy study materials, and so I did. I picked up a kanji book and a grammar book that focuses on the stuff primarily covered on the Level-2 test that are to be used once-a-day for 8 weeks. I think I will pick up the grammar better than I will the kanji.
I've only been playing Animal Crossing and Street Fighter IV lately, but this next bit covers both:
I bought the Toad hat a while back, and made a vest to go along with it:
Leslie helped me get a "bun wig" the other day, so I made a Chun-Li outfit for myself:
I also totally took advantage of 5x Nook points on Sunday. I jumped from 500 to 26,000, and I have way too many Black Katanas now.
I've been thinking about what I need in terms of life stuff and what makes me "happy". Is it bad to be so, for lack of a better term, "simple"? What is a fire, and how does it, what's the word, buuuuuurn?
Starting March 30th, the Pokemon Center starts their "Meowth Matsuri" and launches a line of Meowth-themed goods to go along with it. I won't be there right away, but I would like to check it out sometime.
When payday does finally come, we'll probably be taking a trip out to Costco and then having a house-warming party for Jess, because she just moved into her new apartment. If there's even the slightest chance that they sell frozen mozzarella sticks there, you better believe I'm going. God I miss those and real Italian food in general.
It looks like March is movie month for me. I'll be trying to go and see Benjamin Button on Thursday, because men get in for $10 as opposed to $19. Then, against my better judgment, I'll probably go with someone to see how horrible Dragonball:Evolution ends up being. Finally, Watchmen comes out here March 23rd, which is a pleasant surprise, because I was either expecting it to take months or just not come out at all here. Gotta see Dr. Manhattan on the big screen if ya catch my drift *nudge**wink*.
I had nothing to do with this. Every day, during lunch, the "broadcasting club" plays music from the school's limited selection of CDs on hand (unless someone brings something in). Apparently they have the single for Butterfly, because they've been playing it every Monday and Friday without fail, so today, I decided to take a small video of it, because I'm sure nobody would believe me otherwise.
