Summary:
The fire crackled merrily in the hearth, the dancing light highlighting the antiques amassed by two immortals and the two men staring at each other. Years had passed since Lestat had laid eyes on his fledgling, and now that he was here, he didn’t know what to do.
“Should I be running?” Louis asked with nervous humour, emerald eyes searching the blonde’s face.
He grinned suddenly and crossed the room between one fire flicker and the next, catching the younger vampire up in a hard hug, “Louis! Ma chere! What on earth are you doing here?!”
“I came to see you, you oaf.” Louis laughed, returning the hug briefly, “Christmas seemed like the perfect excuse in case you were not pleased to see me.”
Lestat swung his fledgling around just to hear his protesting squawk before he finally set him back on his feet.
“You’ll stay?”
“For awhile, oui.”
“Then that is the best gift I have received in years!”
The fire crackled merrily the rest of the night long, background for the first of many evenings of arguing and missed companionship that followed.
