The Hyphy Chronicles

So I pulled off a 4-day weekend for Thanksgiving, and hopped on a plane and took my long awaited trip to the Bay Area.

Wednesday - Woke up, headed to LAX, got a nasty sandwich from Wolfgang Puck's, and got on the plane. I can NEVER get to sleep on a plane, but I was tired so I thought I'd try anyway. Right as I was about to, I get tapped on the shoulder by the lady next to me, because window-seat guy had to go to the potty. So I sit there disgruntled until the flight attendant comes to give us drinks. The smartest $6 I spent that day went to the Coke and rum that made the flight so much more bearable. Got off, sat in traffic with Akari and got to Westfield Mall. Perused a bit, and then we decide to head back towards Alameda. There we met up with his brother, Kimani, and a minus [who fortunately wasn't acting much like a minus] named Mandy. Got some delicious potato skins [yeah, more like potato halves] with a couple strong margaritas, and headed back to the pad to chill before the festivities. Headed off to a barclub called Shine. House music, and just a chill atmosphere. Finished with chit-chat and decided the spot to be was Matrix. Put on a show for the folks, dancing in front of the fireplace. Finished with a beer; that and the alcohol from the rest of the day and having along day, I was BEAT. Got food at a raunchy Mexican joint, El Farolito's (Santana's +1, IMO). Alcohol + long day + itis = GG.

Thursday - Thanksgiving Day. Akari took me to get toiletries at Walgreen's and I copped my stuff and some Arizona's. We went back to the pad and we all got ready and headed over to this apartment in the city where Ki's friends were having a get-together. This was my first authentic [I feel stupid for using that word for some reason] American thanksgiving meal. Like this is like homemade meets Food Network, it was THAT good. Turkey-roll-thingies, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, ham, salad, stuffing, green bean casserole. Man, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. We stuffed ourselves silly. Chatted it up with females there. They were looking good, but I wasn't really trying to mack... just trying not to let the mack muscles get too cold. =) Anyway, went back to the spot, got down on some Mario Kart, Guitar Hero, and watched Stomp The Yard... good laughs and good dancing.

Friday - I knew I had to make my last day count. Got up, we went and grabbed some cheese steaks and watched some TV, played some games before we all got ready to hit the town. First spot on the agenda was Shine. 3 year anniversary, so they had open bar, which I took full advantage of. We all started with a shot of Jameson, I followed with a Vodka/Red Bull, which was followed by another shot of Jameson, followed by this bomb looking bartender in training making me a nAssTy Coke and Rum (about 5 parts rum and 2 parts Coke). Got my flirt on with her, which was good. When we were about to leave, I said, "I'm about to go, but I wanted to ask you... If I had asked for your number, would I have gotten it?" And she comes with, "No, but that's because I'm married to the DJ." To which I ask, "So... assuming you weren't married, then would I have gotten it?" "Yeah, definitely!" Sincere or not, that left me happy. We left for the other place called Roe. Hip-hop music, girls open to dance, good drinks, I had it made! Me and Akari put it down and I broke some of these girls off real good. Very pleased with the evening. So after showing the Bay Area how I gets down, we went to El Farolito's for some food. Somehow, I ended up beatboxing, and Akari and Ki ended up freestyling randomly. Then some random girl was dancing into the mix, and I started dancing up on her as I continued beatboxing. That was hilarious, but we got our food, got back, had a short conversation about who would be more suited to play War Machine in Iron Man 2. We wouldn't put it past Don Cheadle, Terrence Howard would still be a good candidate, but I said Morris Chestnut. Then we decided to watch First Sunday, and then knock OUT.

Saturday - Trip home.
Sunday - Work
Monday - Work
Tuesday - Work
Wednesday - Dinner with Devon
Thursday - Nothing. Life sucks.

I wanna go back up. Well, the honest truth is that I just wanna have more fun. Work is cool, but fun is better at this point.
