Demon People
I was having a good political discussion with my Lyft driver yesterday morning, and we were on the same page about the dire straits of society, until he busted out, "Yo, if you look up 'democracy' in the original Latin, you'll see it's 'cracy' for people, and 'demos,' for the devil. Look it up! Demon people! You gotta wonder what these people are doing up there."
Um, okaaaay... I was quite sure that wasn't democracy meant it latin, so I looked it up right then, and said, "Okay, so demos was orginally 'demotic'-"
"See, demonic!"
"No, deMOTic, with a T. It meant district."
"Oh. District."
