I have the My-team-crapped out of the playoffs Blues again this year. The ironic part of being a diehard fan of a team is that the losses are always worse than whatever joy a win brings. As a Colts fan, I think it is worse because of how good the Patriots are. They are the very picture of clutch performers, their only playoff loss in this era was last year when they lost to the Colts in the AFC Championship game. Also this loss comes in a year when Patriots QB Tom Brady break Manning's single-season touchdown record and the team because the first in NFL history to finish the season 16-0. The Patriots might as well be putting on a clinic called "How to Play the Game of Football." It's no wonder so many people hate them. San Diego, the team the Colts just lost too, plays them on Sunday in the AFC Championship game. The Patriots slaughtered them early in the regular season and knocked them out of the playoffs last year in their first game as the number one seed. So the Chargers did that to the Colts this year. It is similar to what happened to the Colts the year before last, when a Steelers team that had been knocked out of the playoffs by the Patriots the year before struggled during the regular season, but squeaked into the playoffs as a wild card team and knocked the number one seeded Colts out of the playoffs in their first game, at home, and Pittsburgh eventually won the Superbowl. It's hard to see San Diego beating New England though. I figure most likely the Superbowl will be New England versus Green Bay. Green Bay looked awfully good in the snow last week against Seattle. They actually looked like a team that would at the very least give the Patriots a good game, maybe even beat them. But this season ended without the epic Colts-Patriots battle I had been waiting for all season. Last year's AFC Championship game was one for the ages. I had really thought this Colts team was better than the one that won the Superbowl last year. The defense was amazing all year, but this game they looked flustered and flat. They are built for speed, but it seemed like they were always caught out of position and running the wrong way. I wasn't sure they could actually beat the Patriots this year, the Patriots are disgustingly good, and playing in New England would negate a lot of the Colts defensive speed. But to play so poorly and just look unprepared is embarassing. Next year they move into a swank new stadium, this performance was the last game in the RCA Dome. Maybe they ought to ritualistically burn it or something.
School just started back this week, and we are getting the kinks worked out. My "Business Today" class hasn't been added to my list of classes I can access yet for some reason. It took a couple of days for one of my classes the last time as well. Chemistry looks like a lot of work, but the class is very well organized. For Music Appreciation we have to attend and report on three concerts. It seems a little strange that Music Appreciation is focused exclusively on western classical music. I expected to touch on a wider variety of musical styles. Statistics seems disordered right now, and you have to actually come to campus to take the five tests. But with Amanda not working it shouldn't be too hard to work around. We decided some weeks ago that it just didn't seem feasible to have us both in school and working with two kids of such young age. We'll just have to make do as best we can for the time being, my parents are here as a safety net. My mom is watching both of them right now for the first time while Amanda is in class. She usually watched Molly last semester so I could either catch up on sleep or work on school. It helps out a lot. I underestimated how much more work having two kids can be. I honestly thought that going from zero to one was a bigger change than from one to two. In some ways it is, but now they equal us in number.
