Old Rogue Medicine Show

In theory I would be working on school work right now. Apparently though the password server is down or something. This semester they are switching to a new delivery system, and the reliability has been somewhat erratic. So instead I am looking up videos for a band I have heard of previously but just now come across. Old Crow Medicine Show is a group of kids who play what they call "old-time" music, which is most similar to bluegrass. I have already soured on modern conuntry, new country, or hot country for the most part. I find that it is just too neat and packaged to seem very, well, country. A far cry from Hank Williams or Johnny Cash. Old Crow Medicine Show reminds me of watching He-Haw what I was a kid at my grandparents'. I guess that is different from the electrified country music that came into being, or at least become popularized, when Garth Brooks exploded. They also remind me of the Tennessee Rounders, this neat "rockabilly" band Amanda and I saw when we attended Riverbend. Listening to a performance of Old Crow Medicine Show from Bonnaroo, the singer actually pronounces "drinking" correctly, not "drankin'". I believe a lot of these country stars purposefully exaggerate their accents to seem more "country", which just makes them lame and hokey. Word!
