STOLEN PROPERTY!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Jan 21, 2009 22:11

As many of you now know... my Boyfriend, Angel (of Dope, Team Cybergeist, Genitorturers), and I, had close to $5,000 worth of our stuff stolen from our hotel room in Anaheim, California, while we were there for NAMM last week.

Both of our MacBook laptops, as well as my purse with 3 credit cards and all of my keys, were stolen. Angel's computer had EVERYTHING in it. All of the Team Cybergeist ProTools sessions, remix sessions, audio and video editing software, all of his drum loops and samples, synth modules, DJ software, contracts, and other important documents. Not to mention all of his personal stuff like photos, contact information, ITunes library, and his complete history of show/tour dates. Things that can NEVER be replaced...

The way this situation has been handled by the hotel, has seriously left me sick to my stomach... Literally... Physically sick. I have thrown up several times, and have barely been able to eat since it happened.

Not only are the hotel attempting to shirk responsibility for the burglary, but the way they have treated us throughout this entire ordeal, is disgusting and inexcusable.

Without even bothering to check the police report, or speak with the officer, they just assumed they weren't responsible for our loss, and therefore did absolutely nothing about it.

Angel and I spent the majority of our time in California, dealing with this crap, just trying to get back what is rightfully ours. It was seriously like pulling teeth, just to get the General Manager to get off her lazy ass and file a claim with Insurance... And it was even worse trying to get a refund for our room.

We are 99.999% sure it was a member of the hotel staff who broke into our room and stole our stuff. Even the police officer said he believed it was a member of the staff who knew how to open the locks and get into the room undetected.

The details of the situation point to a staff member, who probably heard us when we were checking into our room. Whoever it was knew EXACTLY what we had, as there was no evidence of anything else in our room being taken or gone through. They came in specifically for the computers, jacked them, and grabbed my purse off the couch. Our luggage and other stuff wasn't even touched.

They also used 1 of my credit cards, in 3 locations, plus several attempts elsewhere... $40 at a Burger King (how the fuck do you spend $40 on whoppers?!) and close to $200 at a 7/11. At least the idiots used it at a place where there was video surveillance. I'm pushing to get tapes for all these places as soon as possible, so we can have them matched up against every member of the hotel staff.

I am beside myself, I'm so upset over what happened. I mean, yes, it's definitely devastating to have so much stuff stolen, especially since I had saved up so much money to buy my laptop (the one and only one I've ever owned in 26 years), and it's crucial that I have it for band and work related stuff... I only had the fucking thing for THREE WEEKS and some fucking piece of shit came in and stole it!

But this is all stuff that I can eventually rebuild... At least on my end. It's going to take forever to build back up, but at least it is feasible. Like I mentioned before, Angel lost stuff that can never be replaced, and I feel so much worse for him.

Because of the loss of his computer, he is forced to postpone the release of the new Team Cybergeist album - How to Destroy Something Beautiful.

Despite everything, I am way more upset about the way this has been handled, and the way we have been treated. Never in my life have I been treated this shitty by any company... And considering the circumstances, I don't understand how we could be treated this badly over something that's THEIR fucking problem, and shouldn't be ours. I was made to feel so uncomfortable, that I felt weird even setting foot in the front lobby. The attitude and lack of respect that was shown to us is sickening.

And even more so... The fact that someone broke into our room so easily, has been fucking with my head ever since. What if we had been in the room when it happened?! What if they had been armed?! What if Angel was out, and I was sleeping?! I don't think I slept more than a few hours, the entire time we were in California. And now that I'm home, I still feel uneasy and have this pit in my stomach about the entire situation, and an overwhelming feeling of anxiety that has been there consistently since this happened.

We also spent so much time and energy dealing with this, that even though we tried our hardest to make the best of it, and still had a good time at NAMM... We missed out on countless opportunities because of it.

The one thing I hate more than anything in this world... Is to feel helpless. Or to feel like a victim. And that's exactly how I fucking feel... Helpless. And voiceless.

So now here we are... Dealing with voice mails, and the underlying feeling that we're going to be fucked over in the end.

My advice to anyone reading this... 1.) Don't ever leave your stuff unattended, even if no one is supposed to come into the room (we had the do not disturb sign up and everything). 2.) Don't ever stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott, in Anaheim, California... Across from Disneyland and the Convention Center.

At this time, until we know what's going on, please don't send any ignorant hate mail to the hotel. We may ask for group support in contacting them later on, but it is not going to help us in any way if you email them and tell them you're going to "kick their ass", or "blow up their hotel". In fact, that would screw us over even more, so please, no messages like that.

We do need your help, any way that you can. I've definitely been dealing with some very shitty financial issues lately, and this latest turn of events has been a very low blow. So I am updating a price list on things I have for sale. If you're interested in any of it, please let me know! I am also accepting donations to my PayPal - ddevild0ll@aol.com (0 is a zero).

All money for this is going straight to having our stuff replaced. Neither of us can work, or function with our bands without this stuff. It's very, very important we replace them as soon as possible.

I'll also be selling a lot of personal items on eBay to help pay for them, as soon as I have time to sort through all of my stuff.

Also, anyone who knows anyone who is a lawyer, insurance adjustor, police officer (preferably in Southern California), or anyone who works for Marriott, please contact me privately with information or advice.

And we would appreciate anyone who could re-post this on our behalf.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this!
