another day, another year...

Jan 02, 2007 16:08

It has been a little while since I have updated (In fact, I haven't updated since last year! ::crash crash cymbal::) Quite a bit has happened in that time, but I have just been too busy (or lethargic) to write anything.

Had Jerica, Erik and Aaron over for Christmas. It was quite lovely actually, and I really enjoyed how excited Maya and Edgar got over opening their own gifts! The other Animals loved what they got, but weren't interested in opening their own presents :) Still though, it was definitely the highlight. I love being a Mom, and I absolutely love to spoil my Babies! (Even when it means going into debt)

Ton of bullshit relationship drama going on (what else is new?) So I am happy to have some distance for now.

I packed up my stuff, and left for Virginia, early on Thursday morning. I planned to leave around 6:30 a.m. at the latest, but had to spend over 15 minutes just searching for Thomas (it is amazing how smart that Cat is... As soon as he saw me carry one of the other Kitties out to the car, he bolted into a very descrete hiding spot). After everyone was safely settled into the car, we left... Within 10 minutes, my Cats had already found a way out of the Gate/Cage that I bought at PetSmart which is supposed to prevent Animals from climbing through. So after I got to Jacksonville, I had to go back there and resituate everyone (it's hard to drive with 5 Cats all trying to climb on the dashboard, or ride on my shoulder). Right after I passed the Georgia border, Maya (who has only had it ONCE since I adopted her in April), got diarrhea so bad she ended up crapping on *my* seat, the *only* seat that was not covered with towels and blankets. Needless to say, we made a LOT of stops on our way up, so that she could go to the bathroom. My poor little baby! And my poor car!

We got to my Mom's house around 8:45 p.m. or so, and Mom and Carolyne helped me get everyone inside and settled. Maya still wasn't feeling well, and had a nasty little accident on my Mom's rug. Way to break the ice, huh? Since then, she is feeling MUCH better, and I now know that I will be packing anti-diarrhea medicine and valium for her trip home.

My Sister had a post-op appointment on Friday, which Mom and I took her to. They still don't have the results from the pathologists at Johns Hopkins, and said those won't be finished for another 1-2 weeks, but as far as everything else goes, her scar is looking good and she doesn't show any signs of swelling or infection.

That night, Carolyne decided she wanted to go out, and wanted me to come too. I had been feeling REALLY drained and tired, and didn't particularly feel like going out, but when my Cousin Melissa called to see what we were doing, and Carolyne invited her, I decided to go afterall, so I could see her as well. We went to some bar in Old Town Alexandria, which really wasn't my type of bar, but I did enjoy a "Girl's Night Out" with Carolyne, Melissa, and Carolyne's friends Kat and Susannah.

On Saturday, we went over to my Brother's house, to visit with his family, and to give our sweet little Nephews their Christmas presents. They were SO cute, opening up all their toys and playing with everything. It is SO hard to refrain from becoming that ONE Aunt that everybody seems to have that constantly squeezes your cheeks, lol!

I was feeling really tired and drained again after we got home. Carolyne wanted to go out again, and at first, I was going to go, since it was New Year's Eve, but the later it got, the more drained I felt. Plans fell through anyway, and we ended up lounging around in Carolyne's bed, snuggling with the Pups, and watching Flavor of Love 2 (which Carolyne hadn't yet seen).

Yesterday was a lazy day... My Dad came over for a little while, which was nice, and I went to a couple of stores with my Mom. When we were in the last store, I started to feel REALLY sick to my stomach (burning, ulcerous feeling, and I had a headache). I went straight to bed figuring it would pass.

Woke up this morning (I was supposed to go to the office today because my Supervisor is leaving for vacation, and I am filling in for the 2 weeks she'll be gone), but there was NO way I could make it. I am sick as a damn Dog and definitely feel like I've caught some sort of flu. I'm very tired, drained and every muscle in my body aches. I have a fever and keep getting flashes of hot and cold. When I stand up, I feel dizzy and I need to sit down. My stomach is killing me, although I haven't thrown up. So I called in and let everyone know that I would be staying home. I REALLY hope this passes soon. I spent most of the day in bed. My big venture was going from the bed to the computer in the next room. Even this is exhausting me, and I will soon go lay down once more, and pray for unconsciousness.

The one bright side to staying in bed since last night, is I got to read Hannibal Rising in it's entirety. I hadn't even remembered that it was out yet, but my Mom just got it a few weeks ago and loved it. I just finished it a few hours ago, and I was definitely highly impressed! It tells the story of Hannibal Lecter from childhood to teenage years, and shows how he became who he is. Absolutely phenomenally written! I saw a movie poster a few months ago, so I guess they are already making a movie out of it. I pray that this movie is well done, and isn't the disappointment that Hannibal was.

And now, I must return to bed. Blah!
