Another night, another finger bursting through the heavens.
"What's that one?"
"People used to call it the Big Dipper. At least that's what Leeron was able to translate."
The finger moved and poked another imaginary hole in the night sky. "That one?"
"Ah...I can't remember." The redhead settled back into her corner of Lagann. They'd be out here for hours again. "Do you, Simon?"
He squeaked. He hadn't been paying attention to her and his older brother's conversation at all, having decided earlier on to sneak sidelong glances towards Yoko while he could. He didn't want to look stupid! "Um, w-was it--Oh! It's Osiris!" The hand that descended on his head gently ruffled his hair. "Aniki, cut it out!"
Kamina did stop (for once) and stood, one hand in his pocket and the other extended towards the constellation far above them. "That's ours!"
"Huh?"
"What? Kamina, you can't decide to take something over just like that!"
"Nobody else knows what it's called. An' from what I guess, this Osiris guy decided to name it after himself. Why can't we?" Both hands were in his pockets as he grinned down at Simon. "That's what I figure anyway. Whaddya say, bro?"
Lagann moved forward an inch when Simon knocked the controls forward in his rush to stand alongside his soul brother. "Yeah!"
"Hold on, guys." Both pairs of eyes focused on the source of the interjection. "The people who got stars named after them did something important that people felt like remembering them for forever. All we've done are fight weak Ganmen. That's not a reason to get things named after you." It was only practical. "Couldn't you wait until we beat the Helix King?"
"Yoko has a point...."
"Oi, whose side are you on?" Kamina grumped. Despite his disappointed frown, he merely shook off Simon's stutters of sorry. "Yeah, you're right, Simon. We'll kick that Helix bastard's ass together and then we'll get our stars."
"What're we gonna name it?"
"The Dai Kamina and Simon!"
Simon's smile was wide. "That sounds great, Aniki! We'll be in the stars always!"
"And one day we'll go up there and see 'em ourselves, right?"
"Right!"
"What about--"
"An' Yoko'll be there too."
She hmphed, but couldn't pretend she wasn't pleased with the idea.
They all looked up, their eyes brightened by the faint starlight.
