Prompt: 008; Magic
Notes: This takes place after Kaitou KID steals the materia from ShinRa. XD

There was only one word on her mind. Shinichi. It had been many months since he disappeared, and many more since the day at Tropical Land when he had first disappeared from her sight. It was almost midnight, and the moon was shining brightly, and it looked almost blue. Ran Mouri couldn't sleep. Telling herself to get over it, and that he'd come back eventually wasn't easing her mind. She tried to fall asleep, but her eyes stayed open. They wouldn't close at all.

But that wasn't going to be the only problem when she heard a creak in the window that lead to the patio. Sitting up on her bed to find out what was happening, there was nothing to see. She then stood up and opened the purple blinds. There was somebody out there, but she couldn't see who it was. All there was to see was a shadow. She opened the windows and quietly moved toward the figure, and then the moonlight glittered on his clothes, revealing who he was.

His eyes were focused on the small crystal-like ball, and the cape was flowing in the wind. There was only one person who would have the courage to swoop in on anybody's patio. The phantom thief, Kaitou KID, wearing all white as usual.

The karate champion looked at him wide-eyed until she walked onto the patio, speaking in a soft tone, "What are you doing here?" The seventeen year old male stared at Ran and then quickly put the materia into his pocket. The phantom thief was about to step off the pole that was keeping him from life and death until Ran started to reach out for his cape, which made the Magician of the Silver Sky bring his right leg down. He was about to slip, but of course, he was playing innocence.

"Is a reason necessary for me to tell you, ojousan?" KID said innocently, not minding to remember at the very least the name of the person he was talking to.

Hearing that quote, Ran thought, was torture. His voice even sounded just like his. Shinichi. Tears of rage started pouring from her face and she yelled at him. Her anger couldn't contain to her own body, nothing could stop her now. She used her fists to try to punch the thief, but all she was hitting was the air. He really was a phantom, dodging her moves like that. How could he see through her? She didn't understand. "Why do you sound like him?" Ran hissed through her tears. "Why do you seem to have words that remind me of him?!"

Kaito was baffled. He wasn't even being mean to Ran, but yet, she hated him. He knew what she meant though. He, the doppelganger of Kudo Shinichi sounded like him and even so, she hadn't seen the teenager detective in many months now. But she had forgotten about being on the community before. It wasn't his own fault that he looked like Kudo Shinichi. The thief now didn't have much of a choice but to do this.

Jumping off the pole and landing in front of Ran, his cape intact, he smirked at her and told her with no regrets in his voice, "Mouri-san, I didn't mean to," he then used his right hand to make a white rose appear in front of her eyes. "and don't cry. Beautiful women like you shouldn't cry tears of hatred." Ran looked away, her face and voice was too angry to say anything. She then wiped her tears and forced herself to look at the Shinichi clone."I despise you, I hate you, Kaitou KID."

When he heard these words, he was reminded of a stronger version of Aoko. They really were similar...but he had to keep Poker Face going. "Why do you hate me? Is it because I look a lot your boyfriend~?" That tone was just annoying her. It was the way Sonoko teased her, but in the voice of Shinichi. She hated it! "Why do you steal, Kaitou KID?" Her voice faltered slightly. "Why? Is it for your performers?"

He then looked down in regret. "No, Mouri-san. It's not for them, though sometimes I wish that I was never a kaitou in the first place."

"Then why-" but as she said this, he disappeared. Just like magic, there was a note. A note telling her not to tell the tantei-kun. That tantei-kun was Edogawa Conan. The person who she didn't know was Kudo Shinichi.

Owari.
