NYFA Update

Okay, so here is my NYFA update for those of you who care:

Sunday's flight went quickly and I found the NYFA representative at the baggage claim easy this time. I saw Will and Jan from last year at the airport and we all gathered around Trent. It was weird seeing them all again. I talked to a girl named Alexi and a guy named Danny who was taller than me but a freshman at his school. Just after leaving the airport Jan asked the shuttle driver to take a pit stop at In n Out burger so we sort of bonded over that. Then he got us to Oakwood which was ultra trippy. It still is. Anyway, so I checked in and got to my room. I'm sad it isn't in building U (I'm in B this time), but I suppose it's good because if I was in U I'd be really sentimental and sad all the time. The change in scenery makes it easier to not get caught up in last year. I met my roommates (Andrew from Houston, TX and Danny from Warsaw, Poland). Pretty neat people. Good roommates. We actually chatted a lot the first night which was comforting. A BIG head start from last year...

So on Monday morning we all walked down to the red building next to Universal and WB that we are having classes in this year. I have Eric again as my filmmaking teacher. It's comforting. I ate with a girl named Emma and her roommate Chelsea. I was going to sit at a table of guys but I wanted to sort of jump start a friendship so I went to their table instead. Luckily for me, I made a great choice (Last year I also made a great choice of sitting with Jenny and Adrienne...gosh im getting sentimental, moving on..). I ended up having a fun conversation with them and found out that Emma loves Arrested Development. Yay! After our camera class we decided to hang out at their place and brainstorm ideas for movies. YES. Jackpot. I hate to sound creepy but I had a really good feeling that it was leading to a really good friendship. Btw, they are both in my section. Anyway, we had a really interesting talk while we came up with ideas, stuff about how racist Emma's town is (she's liberal, but comes from Georgia), etc. Anyways, it was really nice. I played the Emily roll this time, running back to my room at 9:50 to make curfew, lol. They live in building S.

So today we had the same classes and I continued to bond with Emma and Chelsea at lunch and we hung out after class and watched Arrested Development with their roommates and a guy named Rob who also loves the show. Pretty cool people. Then we brainstormed some more and had more interesting conversations. I'm so thankful to have found awesome people to hang out with. I honestly didn't feel like it was possible to have friends as good as the U126 crew and it isnt, but Emma and Chelsea are still so awesome and I'm so glad they we've sort of bonded and stuck together. :)

I'm director one and I'm in a crew with Emma and two guys named Michael and Brandon who are really enthusiastic which is nice, but film is SOOO difficult. We only have 5 minutes of footage to shoot. I'm realllllly nervous. But we are going to universal on friday because we have the day off, and we're going to santa monica/venice all saturday. on sunday i shoot my first movie. this is so stressful but awesome. i'm soo happy the way everything is going so far. :)

peace.
