"Where's your partner? He doesn't get the day off just because it's his birthday."
Jim looked up at his captain. "At the DMV."
Simon glared at his detective. "Cutting it a little close, isn't he?"
"I told him while he was down there, he ought to apply to have his middle name changed to Procrastination."
"Blair Procrastination Sandburg." Simon chuckled. "Has sort of a nice ring to it."
Jim's eyes sparkled in amusement. "Better than the name he called me when I suggested it."
"How long is he going to be? Got a call from the Feds. They think one of the militia groups they've been monitoring might be targeting a site in Cascade. I'm going to call everyone in, make sure we have the protocol down pat."
"I'll give him a call, see where he is in the line." Jim picked up the phone and dialed. "Chief. How's it going?....Uh huh. Yeah. Right. Okay. See you soon." He hung up and reached for his jacket.
"He's finished already?" Simon looked impressed.
Jim just shook his head and checked his weapon. "Tell the Feds we've found their target."
Simon groaned. "Not the DMV." Jim nodded. "Maybe his middle name should be 'Trouble'."
"Don't forget the 'Magnet' part, sir. See you at the crime scene."
