Small, small update.

Oh, sweet! My next chemistry lab is going to be a practical examination!

...if you're wondering how I could possibly be excited about this... it's because it's the first step into real lab work. My procedure is not tilted towards learning chemistry, it's more or less the means by which one might figure out the chemical composition of a mystery substance.

REAL chemistry work!

I'm really very excited, and frightened at the same time, at the implications of moving into the practicals for science.

Also coming up is a more realistic budget meeting, too. Previously we on the Fee Allocation Board for TESC had looked at proposals one at a time, allocating from a minuscule amount of money set aside by the previous Board. Now we're recommending allocations from the bigger pool of total available funds, balancing a number of proposals.

It may not seem like much to the older folks and the kids who've had to grow up too early. I prolly even seem like a spoiled fellow in comparison, but... in the blink of an eye, I can already see myself as a fully-fledged adult citizen, and not just a student anymore. It took a while, but my life is changing.

So, if I happen to be alternately gleeful and somber, that's the reason.

PS. My simple research paper on thigmotropism is coming along fine. With a number of resources on mechanoreceptors now in my possession, I can move on to a couple of other important subjects -- studies on jasmonic acid, understanding why vines wrap in different ways, etc.
