SooRi Couple is Pretty Good.
Yuri's too nice. Yuri doesn't know this, but Sooyoung does. That's why when the boy who sits next to Yuri in homeroom ("Hyunseok," Yuri had told her) rejects the tray of cookies Yuri had stayed up all night making, Sooyoung is there.
"He didn't even think about it," Yuri whines softly as they sit on the roof, some twenty artistically glazed pieces of dough between them, "and I just wanted to wish him a Happy Birthday..." That's when Sooyoung picks up a blue glazed cookie with rainbow sprinkles on top, and shoves it into her mouth.
"Not bad, Kwon," she says with her mouth full, effectively muffling her words (and this she knows and does on purpose, because Sooyoung doesn't know any other way to make Yuri laugh). "You're a pretty good chef."
And so they sit there for the rest of the school day, skipping their last three classes, as Sooyoung takes the time to eat each cookie and offer Yuri a compliment through each mouthful. When the tray is empty and the school bells rings, Sooyoung reaches over and awkwardly pulls Yuri into her embrace. Supporting herself over the tray with her left hand, Yuri looks up at Sooyoung's sprinkle-covered cheeks through her eyelashes as she tries to pull away.
"Don't," Sooyoung whispers and watches as people begin to leave through the school gates. Yuri immediately stops, her back stiff and her eyes wide and confused. Sooyoung's right index finger plays with a few strands of Yuri's black hair, twirling it around and tugging on it gently before repeating the process until she feels Yuri relax into the crook of Sooyoung's neck. Yuri barely hears it, the soft words Sooyoung mumbles just above Yuri's right ear. "Let me protect you."
That night, Yuri stays up to study for her upcoming biology test and so Sooyoung stays up too, her voice loud and clear through Yuri's phone which lies at the top corner of her desk.
"Ya!" Sooyoung complains for the nth time, "Why do I have to stay up with you, Kwon Yuri? I couldn't care less about biology! Are you listening to me? Am I on speakerphone? I ate too much because of your cookies! Are you trying to give me diabetes? If you wanted me dead, Kwon, you could have just said so! Hello? Are you even there? Ya! I hear you giggling, Kwon! ...Oh, God. I am so full--"
Yuri just giggles some more, bites her tongue sheepishly, and twirls her pencil between her fingers.
