The huge Hoover fridge in my house is dead after operating perfectly for exactly 5 years and 3 days. That got me started wondering if manufacturers put malfunction timers in their product so they go crazy right after the warranty period.
Anywayx, I was tasked to browse around at Best Denki Orchard for a new fridge before gymming.
Me to Saleslady: How come some fridge got the label for how many kilowatts they use and some don't eh?
Sales: Oh... no need! No use one. The gahmen give use money before the election, so they'll try to get back eh. Even the watt low low also will be expensive!
Me: ......
Speechless but impressed ya?! Because she paid only $40 for BOTH electric bill and water for the month of April.
Today I headed down to the Tampines BD (with a more sensible sales guy, thankfully) and finally decided on an LG one. I LUV itshairline silver exterior! And if you do happen to walk past the fridge areas in malls, do notice how the Toshiba fridges resemble tombstones.
And today I decided against this:
For this:
Because...
X - SmartTV cable box doesn't allow shows to be dubbed out, unless recorded all over again on to another device, like a DVR!
X - SmartTV charges $5 a month.
X - SmartTV is a TiVo-like product, which in the United States, tried to 'flag' media contents with DRM so they can only be viewed a fixed number of times. A technology that is potentially anti-consumer!
X - With the money I pay for the cable box, I could have bought a DVR in the first place...
... and that's exactly what I did: A LG DVR which supports all DVD formats + DivX and has80 GB of hard disk space! What's more, it's priced at $499 which is$200 cheaper than its (more or less) equal Panasonic and Pioneer models, but with a longer 2-year-warranty.
Hehe... finally can throw away those ugly, bulky tapes.
