Cory Donavan-Schmidt Topness, 28, of Bremerton died Sunday in Kalama from accidental injuries.
Born in Billings, Mont., to Richard and Carolyn (Nichols) Topness, he graduated from Olympic High School in 1996 and studied at Olympic College. He worked as a merchandiser with Stan Tashman Associates.
He enjoyed fishing, car rallies and billiards. He was of the Christian faith.
His grandfather, Carl Topness, preceded him in death. Surviving are his parents; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Jessica Topness and Daniel and Haven Topness; two nieces and a nephew, Tanner, Skylar and Ashton; his grandparents, Ozzie and Polly Nichols and Lorraine Topness; his aunts and uncles, Ranae, Linda, Cynde, Paul, Robert and Larry; and his special friend, Hillary Staley.
Visitation will be from noon to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Crossroads Neighborhood Church in East Bremerton. Memorial donations: Great Peninsula Conservancy, 3721 Kitsap Way, Suite 5, Bremerton, WA 98312.
