Blog post about life as a Software Engineer, and the
ensuing comments and bickering on Slashdot. The first link appears to be down due to the traffic caused by Slashdot readers, hopefully it'll be back online soon. It's good to read other points of view on Software Engineering, but part of me wants to leave this debate behind, as I went through arguing the merits of trying to establish Software Engineering as a "real" Engineering discipline in undergrad. While I would like to see more accountability and process brought into software design and development, I'm not sure how much progress I'll see in my lifetime.
There was another link I was going to post, but I've forgotten what it was...Ah well. Life in general is going to be pretty hectic this month, as I'll be receiving assignments in my grad course, submitting my thesis by the 28th, applying for jobs, and panicking in general about whether everything will be ok. So yeah. If I go incognito for a while don't be afraid.
