Hell, Hal set it up in JLA #1 [Metzler's run], where he admitted to goading Ollie to get him to train. If you have a buddy you can goad into fighting for training, you can certainly beat up each other for pure sport.

I had to do it because, well, it's HAL, and he just won't sit around and wait for Ollie to find out from someone else, and because I just really wanted them to have a conversation about it. There's no way their friendship would ever be ruined over it, but I felt like it was important to show the tension. Because it would be there, and it's real, you know, to have to deal with the fact that your best friend is basically boffing your son.
