[Connor is rather surprised to find a merman in his back yard pool and carefully lays down on the edge to look at him.] Hello?

"Hello." Tim swims closer peeking out at him. "What are you?"

I'm a kitsune, a fox boy. What are you?

[little_mertim]

"A Merman." Tim twist and splashes in the water. "A fish boy, except not really fish."

[littlearrowfox]

Your tail is really pretty. How did you get in our swimming pool?

[little_mertim]

"Thank you." Tim blushes, his tail isn't all that special compared to some. but a surface dweller couldn't know that. "I don't know how I got here. I woke up here this morning."

Where do you normally live? Maybe I could call Uncle Jason and he could help you get back there.

[little_mertim]

"I live in the water, the Atlantic you call it. You can call your uncle if you wish. I will get home one way or another."

[littlearrowfox]

So you swim all the time? Don't you get tired? I swim a lot but I get very tired afterwards.

Does this happen to you very often?

[little_mertim]

"Do you walk all the time? Does that make you tired? Sometimes I swim, sometimes I just let the water carry me."

"It's happened once or twice. Sometimes I pop back home, sometimes I have to be carried back to the water."

Most of the time. Sometimes I walk on two legs as a boy and sometimes I walk on four as a fox. Being a boy makes me more tired than being a fox does.

Maybe if we just wait a little while? Can I swim with you?

"If you like." The idea is confusing to Tim since there's no where to go in the little pool, but if Connor wants to join him he doesn't mind.

[It's a pretty big pool as backyard pools go. Connor ducks back inside to change into his trunks and dives gracefully into the pool, splashing around happily.]
