[He pats Jack's head, not really sure what else to do.] That's what holidays are for. I'm pretty sure I can manage lemonade. [He reaches to help Jack up onto a seat before going to get him a drink.]
I'm Tim. [He pours a glass of lemonade, then gets a cloth and makes it damp, setting the glass before him and holding out the cloth.] Nothing to be sorry for. It's hard to stop eating chocolate when it's just sitting there in front of you...
Thank you, Tim. [He cleans up carefully, trying to get all of it off his face (and mostly failing) before sipping the lemonade.] I was making eggs for my grandfather but there was so much left over...
[He reaches over to help, if Jack lets him, and smiles.] I'm sure he'll appreciate them. Easter and Halloween are pretty much all about eating too much candy... if you want anything else to help your stomach, just say so and I can find you something.
[Jack sits still while Tim helps him clean up.] Thank you.
[He looks thoughtful.] May I have some fruit please? Some apple maybe? [He climbs down from his seat to play with the two kittens.] Are they yours? May I pet them?
Fruit I can also do. [He grins as the kittens find a new play mate.] Yes, the tabby is named Tomlin, and the princess puffball is Amalia. You can pet them as much as you like. I have some treats and some toys to play with them if you'd like? I spoil them rotten I'm afraid...
[He digs out the little bag of kitty treats and his bin of cat toys, bringing it over to Jack with the plate of fruit.] I love them very much indeed. They were a gift, of sorts, from a very dear friend...
It must be nice to have pets like them. [He giggles brightly as the kittens climb up onto him to get to the treats.] Thank you for letting me play with them.
I'm sorry. My name is Jack. [He stands up to offer Tim his hand.] I should have said that earlier. Grandfather would be very disappointed with me for forgetting my manners.
It is forgiven. [He smiles at Jack and shakes his hand.] Cats are very distracting like that. Most things are acceptable if you explain the kitten angle, I'm sure your grandfather would understand.
I hope so. [He smiles and sits back down to dangle a string toy for Tomlin while Amalia sits in his lap and enjoys the petting.] I don't like to be rude. It's nicer when people get along as friends.
I don't count it as being rude. Amalia and Tomlin demand a lot of attention. [He grins, watching his deaged friend play with the kittens.] He'll also sometimes play fetch with that mouse... though sometimes he just catches it and gets distracted chewing on it...
I ate too much chocolate. [Little Jack whines, somehow keeping his English accent.]
