S'Max. [It comes out as reflex, so used to correcting others from all the little nicknames she ends up with. Next person to call her a little monkey or kitten gets kicked.] And yeah. I guess. Maybe. [She really doesn't know. This is a srs bsns contract and the tiny genius is out of her element.]
[She seems to debate a moment before giving a bit of an embarrassed shrug and glancing down at the papers.] I got'a business offer from my home world. I'm... It's a big thing, y'know? I don' wanna mess up, but I never did this stuff before. Jus' street deals, trade n' barter n' small stuff.
[Tim chuckles at the eye roll, then sits down across from her] I've handled a few business contracts in my time. I could take a look at it for you, give you my opinion on it?
It's for Bruce, th' sea-worthy one. [She hands over the offer on the shark bots. It's a fairly standard contract, though the fine print is trippy - trying to trick the little genius into selling the patent and design - and price a bit low.]
Ah, your shark. My organization gave a model of Bruce to one of the rescue organizations and they've been over the moon with it.
[He takes the contract and reads, unable to hide the disgust on his face when he finishes] I wouldn't recommend you sign this contract at all. If you do, they own Bruce, lock stock and smoking patent. You would have no control over anything they did with him, and I don't think that's what you want, if your deal with me is any indication.
Really? [Max perks up, happy to hear that. She knows that the sea-worthy model she gave to the aquarium was well recieved, but to hear that it's doing good in another world too is something to be pretty excited about, too.]
[She frowns, mirroring Tim's displeasure.] No, I don' want that. It'll hafta be redone 'r else they're not gettin' anything. That deal wouldn' be good 'r help anyone. [A beat. She needs to thank Tim somehow for catching that...] I've got another robot in th' works, if'n y' wanna see?
They've been using it to track several varieties of endangered sharks.
I would definitely get the Jason you stay with to look it over. Especially as he'll likely have to sign as well as your guardian, being that you're underage. I don't think this group is as honorable as I am when dealing with you, and they're trying to take advantage of your youth and presumed inexperience.
Mhmm. [Tiny genius nods, taking his advice to heart. It's good advice, as far as she can tell and he has her pretty well pegged. Except for that last bit. She shakes her head, a bit frustrated and embarrassed.] I am inexperienced w' this. [Quietly;] I don' wanna mess it up an' dissapoint Jay...
[Max smiles at his agreement and leads Tim away from the table and further into her workshop. There's a tarp covered object that's less shark-shaped, flatter and wide. It's obviously smaller than Bruce.] This is Ronnie. [And off comes the tarp. It's a stingray bot. With wheels, signifying a prototype in the process of it's movement mechanics.]
I don't think you'll disappoint him by asking him for help before entering into a contract. And you're experienced enough to know when something doesn't look right and ask for a second opinion. [Tim gives her a smile] Some people never figure that out.
[Tim walks around Ronnie] Nice. What's his function going to be?
Yeah, I guess... [But she still worries that she'll do something wrong to upset Jay, she loves him so.]
Similar t' Bruce, but more 'f a function for travel. Th' wings'll fold up t' better secure an animal or whatever f' top transport n' aid. I kinda wanna see if'n I can get get him t' have a pod like feature for sole aquatic capture.
Not sure yet. Maybe branch off t' two models, one havin' one an' th' other th' other. Veronica an' Ronald. [Yeah, she really likes naming them. It's only right.]

[Tim nods] Pod on top, or maybe a secondary attachment?

Two models for two functions. That could work. [He chuckles at the names] Sounds better than Ronnie 1 and Ronnie 2.

Yeah. Less confusin', too. If y' want th' designs when they're don, I can make 'em available.
