[sitting in a chair just outside of Jay's room, keeping watch, and also listening for escape attempts while Jason and Kon are gathering samples]

[ After a few minutes, the door to Jay's room opens and Max comes walking out quietly, shutting the door softly behind her. She sits against the wall directly beside it, her knees to her chest, waiting. She still looks kind of scared.]

[she's had a few water bottles with her already, just in case, and she rolls one to Max, it's sealed, but doesn't say anything]

[Max lets the bottle hit the wall, watching it. She then carefully picks it up and turns it upside down, checking for puncture marks and the like. Smart child is smart and suspicious. Satisfied it hasn't been messed with she opens it and takes a sip.]

Thanks.

[snorts, a little amused, but then..... she did just drug Jay to get him to the hospital (and Max doesn't know her from Eve) so the suspicion's pretty understandable]

'course. Hey, do me a favour, an' don't blame Jason for this? Raptor. He only didn' tell you 'cause we were in a hurry...

[Tiny scowl is tiny as she glances down, clutching the water bottle. Why no, her hands aren't shaking. Why do you ask?]

S'not right to drug 'im.

[snorts] Plan A. was t' kick 'im in the head. [yeah, it's a little obvious that Plan A was her plan...] Look, they're Bats, moral ambiguity is their thing... and I was the one that drugged him. Jason tried to talk to him.

[If you thought she couldn't scowl any harder, hearing Plan A proves that thought wrong. Scowlscowlscowl.]

Don't care.

[Looks up at you, glaring now. Furious.]

...Know what it's like t' wake up somewhere else when y'sick like that?! An' know someone who's supposed t' "be there" for ya did it?!

[That Jay's in the room behind her is the only thing keeping her voice low.]

[totally not impressed with your scowl, sorry tiny ferocious childling, she's had scarier people mad at her before]

Yes. I do. An' y' know what? I nearly died. I was in a bad, bad way. I took th' barman out 'cause he don't know me. It ain't someone breakin' his trust or anythin' like that. Jason's there for him.

Neither o' you gotta like me. But don't blame Jason, all the stuff you're ticked 'bout is on me.

[also speaking softly, this is a hospital after all... even if she would've be too put off by the idea of clanging pans by Jay's bedside]

[She directs her glare back at the bottle. She doesn't like Kora, on principle.... but she thought she could trust Jason. She doesn't know about that anymore nor does she know what to think about it happening to Kora and then her turning around and druggin' someone else against their will.]

S'probably worse. Someone y'trust takin' y' out is one thing, but them havin' someone else do it...

[She huddles up a bit more. Her mind is just full of a lot of things right now, and they all center around Jay's well being. Even if she doesn't like Kora and doesn't know about Raptor anymore... Jay did. He said he had to apologize and she doesn't understand why, but maybe sayin' that will get them to make the first move and have him less stressed.]

I don' like y' right now, but Jay di'nt have anythin' bad to say. He's worried 'bout him. 'bout Raptor. Got 'imself worked up kinda.

[snorts] He didn't have me do anything. Yes, I did it on his behalf, but I'm responsible for my own actions.

Jason cares about Jay, he wants to make sure he'll be okay, head stuff... Head stuff should be checked out, and he wasn't. I mean, I hope this turns out t've been f'r nothin'. But, I'd rather you both hate me than something turns out to've been preventable, but no one did anything.

They... [sighs] It's a big ol' situation with all kindsa circumstances around it...

Slice it anyway y' want.

[And that's all she's saying on that right now. The second statement earns you a scoff and an eyeroll.]

English. I don't like ya, never said hate. S'different.

[Hate is reserved for dregs, Kora. Like her parents. If you were a dreg, she wouldn't be near you. It contradicts her immense desire to be angry with anyone who hurts Jay, but she saw you be careful with him afterwards and doesn't hear a lie in your words. The drugging though, that still ensures dislike. And suspicion.]

Kinda figured that.

[waves her off]

Well, you can dislike me all y' want, too. [a bit snide, she's... really not in the best of moods]

And none 'f it's my business t' share, so.

Don't matter. S'not like I need to know.

[And she doesn't. Whatever the reason is their reason, she's just protective. If she was more level headed, or older, she'd see that Kora's just being protective too, but she's just a kid -- really smart, but a kid. Who's grateful to Jay for being really ... nice to her and being someone she can trust. Hence the protectiveness.]

[shrugs, leaning back in her chair and listening to make sure... something. Jay's still in the room? Things aren't going wrong? ...something. She doesn't really have anything to add]

[Max just sits there, curled up in on herself as she waits. Scenarios are going through her tiny mind, making it to where she doesn't know what to think much, just keep coming back to Jay and that he has to be okay.

After a bit, the sudden change from the fresh air of Jay's room to back to the hospital smell starts getting to her, making the tiny thing fidget. As soon as Dr. Hill opens the door, she's in there like a shot, forgetting her water bottle.]
