There was something wrong here.
One minute, Leonard had been standing in the Observation Deck, his eyes trained outward on the supernova that Jim had described to him that morning, telling him that he needed to check it out before they warped away to another part of the sector.
Then - there was that flash of light, bright enough to make him shield his eyes. When Leonard blinked them open, the supernova was still there, its pulsing light still amazingly colorful.
But nothing else was the same.
It was the Enterprise... but it wasn't. Darker, more shadows. The Observation Deck, for example. The bar was gone, no smiling Guinan pouring drinks for all - replaced with a few replicators, the plush chairs gone, solid sofas in their place. The crew's uniforms differed just enough to catch his attention, as well as their bowed heads, the overloud and angry voices of some, the way that some unfamiliar crew seemed to cringe as he walked by.
At first, Leonard wasn't sure where to go. Instinctively he wanted to head to sickbay, but the very fact that he recognized some of the crew, but not all, gave him pause. Where was he?
Better to head to the bridge. If nothing else, Jim would be there. He could straighten things out, give Leonard the information he needed.
m!jim,
i hate space,
not in kansas anymore,
m!spock,
this is my life?
