Bones couldn't remember the last time he was this happy.
Jim had said
'yes', that he would marry him. How, why it all happened was still a blur to Bones, he only remembered that Jim was sad, Jim needed more, to know that they were as close and solid as any two people could be, and a legal bond meant as much as anything, he supposed.
Also - it said something to everyone else. A commitment. A promise. A shared future, the two of them. That ultimately there were two others whom they were bonded to couldn't be known now, wasn't safe for them. But he and Jim could share their devotion to each other in a public way, and that made Leonard happier than he could imagine.
But...
In the back of his head, he wondered about all that other shit up there in his head, the stuff that still troubled his own nightmares, though they were fewer now that he'd stopped drinking so damn much. Memories of the first time he'd fucked this up, a ruined marriage, a failed business, what happened to his father... But he could make it all go away, couldn't he?
Jim would be angry, Bones knew this. Didn't understand why he needed it. Jim took care of his own shit, the hard way. But - if he managed to clear out the bad stuff, just the really bad stuff, then it would give their own future together a better chance for every happiness.
Jim deserved the very best Leonard he could be, and to be that man, he needed Sybok.

Can we meet? I've got some questions for you.
