So much had happened lately, meetings and late nights working and kittens... Spock's note to them came out of the blue, and when Bones went to find out what was going on, he discovered that Spock had already left.
But dinner with Joanna was something that wasn't going to get postponed. He knew that Joanna really wanted to rekindle their connection, to feel like a family again. And if he was being honest with himself, Bones needed that, too.
The galley had out done themselves again, coming through when Bones sent a request for a 'good old-fashioned home cooked meal' - roast turkey and cornbread dressing, some candied carrots and a huge pitcher of sweet tea. Even for space food, he thought as he thanked the galleymate who dropped off the trays of food, it smelled pretty damned good.
