Starfleet was arriving soon to deal with the Romulans, and the Enterprise would be leaving Agura's orbit and heading out on its new mission

This was not the Academy Substructure A. Those were not her teachers. She did not recognize their uniforms, if, in fact, they were uniforms and not an eccentric mode of fashion, and all of them appeared to be human. Almost.
In an emergency situation, wherein heat, hunger, and thirst were not applicable factors, it was paramount that she remain in a location where a family member could find her.
Chris had just been in his house. He thought. He'd put his boots on, opened the door to go outside, and -
This wasn't outside. He'd never seen a place like this, all shiny and metal and full of lights and machines he could hear humming all around. He was wearing weird giant clothes, too, and when he moved a little bit he could feel he was sitting on something, like long pieces of metal.
There were other kids around him, who mostly looked scared or confused, and a few grownups were there, staring at them and not talking. Chris crawled off the uncomfortable metal things, which brought him closer to a girl with very long hair and funny pointy eyebrows who was sitting still as a statue. Maybe one of those grownups had told her to...oh, maybe it was the one with the black hair and pointy eyebrows like hers. They kind of looked the same. Maybe that was her dad. If it was, maybe Chris's own dad was around here somewhere, and he'd come and get him and tell him what was happening. He decided to find out
( ... )
Chris got up on his knees, but didn't stand up yet, to look closer at the people in red shirts sitting behind the glass window thing. He didn't know them.
"No," he told the girl. Then he sat back down and tried to cross his legs. His pants were really, really long, and his shirt was like a dress. Something weird was happening, but Chris was trying to be brave like his dad always told him, and not be scared. It was kind of hard, though.
"Me too," said Chris, tucking his legs up to his chest and wrapping his arms around. Now he was kind of glad his sleeves went over his hands, because it was really cold here. "I'm s'posed to help my sister with chores now. She'll be mad at me."
He pressed his face to his knees and peeked up at the grownups. He wanted to get up, but it was like they were guarding all the kids, and he didn't know what they would do if he started looking around. But...he could look from where he was. There were round circles of light in the floor, and lights in the walls all around. They were on a little place with steps leading up to it. Around the door it said M-3110, but he didn't know what that meant.
Then he looked more closely at the pointy man's blue shirt, lifting his face to study it. It had a silver badge on it that looked familiar. And...his own shirt had one too, and so did the others'.
He poked at his own badge, trying to remember what it meant.
It was like a strange arrow, with a little star inside it. The girl's was different...hers had a different shape instead of a star, but Chris didn't know what it was.
A star. Uniforms. Star - "Starfleet!" Chris exclaimed, louder than he'd meant to. He glanced over at the pointy man for a second, worried, but he didn't do anything except maybe move one eyebrow a little bit, so Chris guessed it was okay. He grinned at the girl and pointed to his badge. Now he remembered seeing it, in holos and on his dad's old uniforms in the closet. "It's Starfleet! My dad used to be in Starfleet. That means we're prob'ly on a ship!"
Spock's brow furrowed. She was not supposed to be on a ship. She was supposed to be at the Academy. Her mother was supposed to pick her up from the academy in approximately four hours. Her mother would be disappointed.
Chris thought about it for a minute, and a scary thought came into his head. "What if," he said slowly, "they're bad guys in disguise?" His eyes were wide. "They might be enemies! Klingons."
As soon as he said that, the door opened, and he jumped a little bit in surprise. But it wasn't a Klingon running in...at least, he didn't think so; he wasn't exactly sure what they looked like...it was just a lady with blond hair.
Starfleet would not want to take them. Her mother would be very vocal on the subject and people listened to her mother. No, they were enemies in disguise.

Spock remained very still.
At least one of the adults was Vulcan.

He was unfamiliar.
"No," Spock answered back, quietly. She wasn't sure why they were being quiet, but it seemed imperative. "Are they yours?"
Spock pointed at the human adults.

Where was her dress?
"I do not know," Spock replied. There was a pause and she frowned lightly. "I want to go home."

"Do you know what it means?" Spock looked at the symbol as he touched it.

"How do we get off the ship?"

He kept his voice low. He didn't want the grownups hearing about escape plans.
"But I wonder how we got on."

"Your father was in Starfleet. My mother works for the Federation," Spock explained quietly, as though it were secret. "Why would they take us?"

They had obviously been kidnapped.
This boy was smart.
"You are smart," Spock stated quietly.

Elf-guy?
"You look like a bad guy."
He did. Most of the bad guys were humans, one of them was even blonde.
