Friday night dinner (Joanna, Bones, Kirk)
He'd ordered something that he thought she would like, something simple. Steak and potatoes, salad, tea. He'd ordered enough for three, just in case, but it was almost 1900 and Kirk wasn't here. Must have made other plans, he thought, not terribly surprised but a little disappointed.
Not that he blamed Kirk. Joanna had mentioned bringing pictures of her parents, something that Bones both wanted to see and didn't want to think about. Another Kirk and Bones out there, living a sadder life, but raising his daughter on board a starship.
This could be an emotionally uplifting evening - or an uncomfortable and awkward mess.
Bones sent an additional comm to the galley for some cookies. Couldn't hurt.
