Patient brought into sickbay with extreme pain of unknown origin. Patient was conscious and requested he not be heavily sedated, though pain medication was administered. Heartbeat was thready and rapid. Neural monitors showed marked decreased neurocortal activity from normal.
It appears that the the patient is bonded to the Spock from his universe, and the lack of the Vulcan bond had slowly deteriorated the patient to the point of collapse.
His - bondmate, for lack of a better word, arrived and began a mind meld which alleviated much of the pain. Patient's condition improved to the point where he could walk on his own.
Patient and guest taken to the quarantine rooms near sickbay under guard. Note to self: Captain's condition to be monitored every 6 hours for the first twenty-four hours, then every twelve thereafter.

The captain is gone. So is George. Someone's putting together a brilliant plan.
And I will be in sickbay, waiting for them to bring him back.
