Wow it's been a long time since I've updated. As I told Jessica, things hadn't been so good and I wasn't going to just blabber on about how I felt crappy, because that would be boring. But wow, things are much better now, and I had the COOLEST WEEKEND! Wheeeee!
So Friday was Fall Festival, which once again was held inside which made it half as fun as it should be, but oh well. Maybe once I graduate they'll start having decent (i.e., outside) ones. I didn't sign up for anything but helped out the senior class selling mums/pansies and running the moonwalk with Ashley Joost, which was fun stuff. It was cool cause there were lots of alumni there and I got to talk to a lot of them and play catch up, which is always cool. Ms. Blum even came! I like Fall Festival just cause you get to talk to so many people, not really because of the food or because of the things you can buy. Unfortunately, I missed Rent-a-Roman, but Jake Gunst informed me they set an all-time low bid (he and Robert Fisher) of $3, I think? (Correct me if I'm wrong.) So yeah I helped clean that up and got home at 9:45 or so, after which I talked to Aimee Lee about the plans for Saturday, which you'll hear all about below, and then I talked to some people online and went to bed.
Saturday I slept in (ahh, the joys of more than 6 hours of sleep...) and woke up, ate breakfast, and sat around talking to more people and downloading some music. At 1 or 1:30 I went to the Jacobs' house because the Owens were in town, and so their families, along with mine and the Chapins', decided to have a fun lunch. I wasn't there long, I just ate lunch and talked some with Ashley (Chapin). She took her SATs and was going to go home to celebrate not having to take any more haha. So I left there at about 2:15 and drove on the wonderful Pocohontas Parkway (895) over the giant bridge, which I love doing, and set off eastbound. I stopped in Sandston and picked up Aimee, who is perhaps the coolest person ever to walk the planet. We went to William and Mary and dropped things back at her dorm, and then parked the car and met up with Adam Snodgrass, who used to go there but transferred to UVA so he could take Persian, and is visiting for a few days. I met a bunch of Aimee's friends and hall-mates, who are all very cool people, and after hanging around in the dorm for a while the three of us and Aimee's friend Dave from down the hall went to Sal's for a nice Italian dinner (which I might add made a wonderful lunch today), and then to CVS to get Dave some medicine. We went back to the dorm and hung around some more, and then Aimee suddenly screamed "Oh crap, I have to go feed my fish!" We all thought she meant she had a pet but she evidently meant the one in the bio research lab for her research course this semester, and so she ran out and was gone for about 20 minutes. When she came back, she said that the fish had died, and called the professor as instructed. She talked for like 25 minutes during which the professor said over and over that she needed to remove the fish, freeze it for later dissection, clean the water in the tank, and add antifungal crap to sanitize it and what not. So she begged me to go back with her and help because apparently she doesn't like dead fish. We went and bagged the fish (during which she went crazy and started yelling about how she didn't like the dead fish - I'll just say that much, you can ask her for details about what really happened haha - I'll let her decide how much she wants people to know, i.e., how embarassed she wants to be. But anyways, we bagged the fish and cleaned out the water and added the stuff, and then left. I'm very proud to have gotten to do that because I don't think that is part of the standard tour hehe. So Aimee and I went back to the dorm and found that Dave and Adam started the DVD without us, and so we watched it with them and Peter (another hallmate) for a while, and then went back to Aimee's room and called Alex, who sent Chris Hamm, Amy Weiss, and Meha over. After Aimee's usual flipping out upon seeing someone she hasn't in a while, we talked about plans for the night and talked some more, and wow the time does fly. Chris had to leave and thus I decided I'd leave to so we could have a leaving expedition, and so Chris, Amy, Meha, Aimee, and I left and the first three went with Chris and Aimee came with me. So I drove Aimee back to her dorm (she was getting ready to go to the Spanish house cause they were having a Spanish dancing party of some sort - she told me I could come and just stay with her for the night, but I thought I was going to go to church and my mom probably would have required extensive persuasion - ahh, oh well, maybe next time) - we said goodbye and after picking up a Dr. Pepper I set off on I-64 back to Richmond. I got home just before midnight and talked to lots of people about all my fun, and then slept like crap (I finally got up at 6:30 AM and took a Benadryl to put me to sleep). I got up, ate more, and then have been working on my AP Comparative paper on British and French elections, and am taking a break and writing this now. So yes, that's my fabulous weekend - it was lots and lots of fun!
So yeah for all of you who are wondering, I am getting much better, and hopefully that trend will continue. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, ask me some other time and I'll tell you about it. I've decided the best way to do things is to just go with the flow and not get so bothered when things don't go the way you don't want them to - after all, you can't make the world spin the way you want it to, and so why should you try to? I say you just have to play with the hand you're dealt, and enjoy it - maybe you'll get dealt a better set of cards next time (for instance, Friday's deal wasn't so hot, but Saturday's was a full house). So anyways back to my paper, but I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and upcoming week!
One more thing, actually. Danny, you're an awesome friend, and you always listen to what I have to say and always manage to put the truth that I don't want to hear in a way that I can deal with it. Ashley, thank you for having me over last Sunday, that really meant a lot to me, and I'm glad you're looking out for me. Jessica, thanks for always smiling and checking up on me, and always offering to listen whenever I ask, and even more often, when I don't and want to. Jenny, thanks for being so understanding, and I'm really sorry about what happened and I will do everything I can to make it better and make it up to you.
Finally, thank you Aimee - this weekend was totally cool and just what I needed to make me happy. It was really good to see you again, and good to see everyone who was down there, and I had lots of fun. Hopefully I'll come visit again soon (you could even meet my freakish family - my uncle called today and said he had the beer all ready for us, and was disappointed that we didn't come haha - I think he wants to meet you - and who wouldn't?). And we will go to that place I was telling you about in Colonial Williamsburg - it's actually better when it's cold out and totally worth visiting, and it's one of the things you can do without paying for a CW pass. Thanks for being such a great friend and talking to me, and remember, you can call me anytime you need anything! :-)
Have a great day everyone!
