Catching Up: So much...(part 2)

So being sick sucked but I survived. With it being a new quarter/semester I have new Japanese classes. Pros: I can sleep in on more days now. Cons: I still don't quite remember what classes I have each day. I honestly don't get it Tsuei. You can't live in Japan for a year, taking classes, and not be fluent. Sure, you won't be a native speaker, but surely the whole "I have to use Japanese EVERYWHERE" factor should make fluency unavoidable consequence rather than some holy grail???

Actually, you don't have to use Japanese everywhere in the sense that you can get away with a lot by simply nodding and basic terms. If you actually live here as a student you realize that you can get through days without having to break out your Japanese.

Um, that's true... but your reading and listening ability should be skyrocketing, even if your speaking is remaining stagnant...?

Umm...sure reading and listneing has improved...but not skyrocketing... you will see soon anyway.
