"If neglecting to update this journal was a criminal offense I would have probably been put up against a wall and shot by now." -Josh
And I'd be lined up right next to him. Figured it was time for some updates, as I've not posted about any goings on in several months (for whomever will read this when it imports to Facebook, this is a LiveJournal post).
The first thing of note is that my Saturn finally died, after a surprising 6 or so years of faithful service. Most of those years, as you know, it was hanging on by a very thin thread. This happened a few months ago (October or November); the transmission suddenly gave out while I was on I-24. I had seen it coming for years, so I knew exactly what was happening. I was in the left lane and had exactly enough time to merge all the way to the right shoulder before it died and the power steering cut off.
Man there were SO many things wrong with that car...but I was sort of sad to see it go, just for nostalgic reasons.
To make a long story short, we bought a used Focus and we are loving the 30mpg. Kimmie had been driving the '88 Diplomat that Grandpa had left to me until her 'rents gave her the Santa Fe for keeps (she was pretty excited about that). That Diplomat is still as pimp as ever...Jon's probably buying it from me pretty soon. I'm glad about that, because I want to keep it around rather than having to scrap it...so it'll be nice to keep it in the family for awhile.
As for Jon himself, he's involved in some rehabilitation programs with the Veterans Association. Some psych issues have surfaced recently, like memory loss and worsening of his PTSD. He seems to like the programs, but I could be wrong...I can tell he at least appreciates them. There's a lot more to the situation, but that's all I'll say about that.
His kid (my nephew) Hunter is walking now and getting into everything. He's a cute kid.
I'm still working in Digital Media at LifeWay, and Kimmie's working part-time at a preschool in Murfreesboro. I've gotten some more freelance work with music artists around town lately, which is fun. That's also enabled my purchase of an iPod Touch. It's so wicked! Nashville's a pretty good town for WiFi.
Kimmie and I (and some of our friends) are gearing up to go back to Haiti this summer. Pretty excited about that.
Not sure what else to update on right now; that's about all the exciting news in our lives I think.
