Expedition 1: Katrina

Sep 23, 2005 13:22

Busy pulling my hair out trying to do several things at once--including reviewing, pre-processing, editing and post-processing/post-production on 500 images from the expediton..

The Carroll County Huricane Katrina relief drive delivered seven (7) tractor-trailer loads and a camper (approx. US$2,000,000.00 of stuff): five (5) trailer loads and the camper to Livingston Parish, LA and one trailer load each to Baton Rouge and Mississippi. Twenty-seven volunteers (not including me and the truckers) went on the relief mission.

They have another 150 pallets in a warehouse in Carroll County and continue to collect donations--planning for the second trip has already begun.

Actually rode in rigs on the trip: rode shot-gun with Smitty on the way down and rode shot-gun with Jim and Paula on the way back. (more on that later).
