I did my first wedding cake. Ack! What a mess it was. I was having total panic attacks on Sat. night. I actually pulled an all-nighter on it Sat. I went to bed on Fri about 2 or 3 am. It was a lot more work than I had anticipated. THere was good and bad involved.
The good:
I enjoyed making cherry blossoms! I thought I would hate sitting there doing them, but I put on my Ipod and went to work. Maybe I like doing flowers more than I thought, which is awesome.
I was forced to use my Cricut Cake when I hadn't really messed with it much. I'd tried a little since getting it, but not really had time to mess with it. Well, I needed to do a Chinese character, and it wasn't coming out so great when doing it by hand. I used the Cricut to cut it for me when I realized it was going to look poor. At the wedding, the bride's mother complimented my cutting of the symbol. She said my strokes were perfect. I love it!
The bad:
The stress. This will diminish with more practice.
Getting that many layers of cake straight. Really need to work on that. I might make bigger cakes for awhile to give me more practice getting things straight.
A few other things as well that really went wrong, but I'll manage in teh future. I just need more practice is all.
So, here's teh cake:
