Captive.

Gin still didn't know why the boy hadn't killed him. Surely he had motive to, had he not? He had tried to kill -him- after all, and then promptly forgotten all about him.
Oh it wasn't as if Gin was free, far from it. The teenager had imprisoned him in some cellar, probably waiting for the day where he would find some illusive proof of his crimes. Proof that he would never find.

A year or so passed in this manner, with Gin trying to figure out a way to escape, a way to weaken his jailer's resolve. Apparently no one but Shinichi Kudo knew he was his captive. His family was clueless, always abroad. His friends were too distracted by his successes with other cases to question whatever secrets he may hide. As for Sherry... Gin always took a sadistic pleasure in mentioning her.

Apparently the poor boy had realized too late that he may have had a thing for the scientist, despite what had proven to be... trying circumstances for such things as teenage hormones. Now all he could do was visit the vestiges of the young woman she had been. His sleeping beauty, in hospital, the one responsible for her sleep in his cellar... And all he had was his word against an other's.

Even the girl he would often mention couldn't give him any form of emotional relief. The Organisation, the Apotoxin... How could he talk of all that to her, and hope her to understand? Mouri Ran was too innocent for the darkness that had become Shinichi's realm.

Strangely enough, when Gin noticed that the boy was no longer taunting him but confiding in him, he began to lose all will to escape. It was strange really... To be treated as a friend by the one who's life you had scarred, the one who had taken your own life away in spite.

He began to open up, give what he loathed to think of as advice but couldn't call anything else. His captor began to show an interest in his prisoner's own past, own motives, own feelings... It wasn't until Shinichi came back on the brink of tears from what should have been an afternoon walk with his friend Hattori that Gin realized what had been happening, and by then it was too late.

The young man's discomfort was tricky to apprehend, but apparently his 'friend' had put some moves on him, and this had scared the young detective. It had scared him senseless. He had trouble trying to explain this in words to Gin, but then it was no longer a time for words. They grabbed at each other, wrestled... For a moment Gin could read in the boy's eyes the fear that his prisoner was going to try and escape.

But no, Gin had been dreaming of other things than escape of late. He had been dreaming of games of a different kind than hide and seek, cat and mouse. Once this came through to Shinichi's muddled brain, a wave of relief seemed to sweep through the boy... And a manic grin found its place. Apparently he'd been having dreams of the same kind, dreams he knew he couldn't share with a justice loving friend.

Gin had always known Kudo's façade of perfection must have been hiding a much darker side. As he found himself chained to his captor he found this very much to his taste.

What was there left for him outside anyway?

FIN.
