Hello old friend, it's been awhile

Oct 22, 2009 16:11

That day started out as lazy Sunday afternoon for Beatriz DeCosta. She had no plans for that day, no work, no activities of any sort. No, Bea had a date with a bowl of popcorn and a small pile of rented romantic comedies.

Today, Bea was determined to put her feet up and relax. No distractions. She wasn't leaving this apartment unless the world was being bear-hugged by Darkseid.

Moving to her sofa, Bea put her feet up, pulling a blanket around her, turning on the television and waiting for the DVD's menu screen to load.

Briiiing, briiiiing! Bea turns her head, glaring at the ringing phone that disturbed her peace. Mumbling to herself, Bea places her popcorn on the coffee table in front of her and sits up, reaching over for her phone.

"Hello?" A pause. "Yes, this is she." Another pause, followed by Bea dropping the phone on the floor.

"Miss Decosta....hello, are you still there?"

It can't be.....

Two days and one extremely long, grueling flight later, Bea is finally there. Olso General Hospital, Olso, Norway.

"Please speak English, please speak English..." she pleas silently under her breath as she makes her way to the receptionist's desk.

"Hi," she says, speaking slowly, clearly pronouncing every little slyable, "I'm looking for-"

At the nurse's puzzled look, Bea mearly holds up a picture pointing to the woman on the other side of her.

"Is she here?"

The nurse nods, pointing down the hallway.

"Third door on left."

Bea nods in thanks, making her way down the long narrow hallway, nearly sprinting, her heart thumping in her chest.

Please be real, please be real...

When she reaches her destination, Bea enters the room slowly. Pushing a strand of hair behind her hair, she makes her way towards the very-familiar looking figure in the bed by the window and places a hand on the shoulder.

"Tora?"
