((story takes place late december 08))
It's just after 11AM. Philadelphia is warming up for another shopping day before Christmas sneaks up. On the edge of downtown, the glass
Cira Centre skyscraper glints over the city like a diamond, reflecting light across a stretch of highway and irritating motorists. Interstate 76 is bumper-to-bumper this morning, in no small part thanks to the inflation of people coming and going through 30th Street Station for the holidays.
The top ten floors of the Cira Centre building explode in glass and fire, showering the station and the highway in debris, followed by two more explosions. Motorists honk wildly, some driving onto the breakdown lanes to get away from the mayhem, others simply abandoning their cars. Pedestrians, motorists and bicyclists flee the Market Street bridge, one man stopping to snap pictures with his phone from a safe distance. Another woman is frantically calling a friend inside of the station.
Outside of the station, police are quickly arriving, aiding in the evacuation effort... and perhaps hoping a perpetrator to this insanity will be among the crowd.
