Warriors

Apr 26, 2009 14:48

Jason'd was in the mood for decent food, and beer that wasn't watered, and someplace that was safe for heroes to come in either guise. That meant Warriors, when you were in New York. He'd called Amelia up, let her know where he was gonna be for the night, and headed for the bar. Maybe he should have called some of his new coworkers...screw it. He ( Read more... )

Owen holds out Amelia's chair for her before seating himself, leaning back in his chair with a content smile. "So, what's your poison of choice?"

Pulling a chair out? Really? Whoever said chivalry was dead was obviously wrong. It's sweet and old-school.

"Crown Royal," she says. "So, are you actually a Star Trek fan, or is it just a good excuse?"

Anyone who said a Rogue doesn't know how to treat a lady was also wrong.

Owen waves down Rose as he shrugs. "Enough that I like NextGen best, but not so much that I put on costumes or anything." He paused. "Besides the obvious. He chuckles at that.

"And I've always thought thinking a lady was strong and beautiful was enough excuse. The darts was just a way of me showing off how skilled and manly I am in the same go." Another grin.

"Ah, the insatiable ego. Well, you're lucky I have the same, then. Flattery does indeed get you everywhere."

She takes a look around the bar while they wait for their drinks. The Elite is certainly an odd bunch and it's too early to tell yet how the heroes feel about them. Maybe that's why Amelia joined; it was apparently sticking in the Outsiders' craw, at least. "Forgive what seems a random question, but why did you join? Besides money or maybe a government pardon, patriotism seems the only other reason, and, pardon my presumptuousness, but you don't seem the type."

Owen leans over the table, smiling like a fox. "If I really thought it was that easy, I wouldn't be giving you the time of day. Only ladies that are a decent challenge are worth the time."

His expression drops just a little, and he tilts his head thoughtfully. "Not bad enough to run with Dad's crew... not clean enough to try for the Justice League... not powerful or experienced enough to go it solo." He shrugs. "It beats working bodyguard gigs for spoiled rich kids."

She laughs softly. "Maybe I'm seeing how thick you're willing to lay it on. I am a succubus, after all. And a spoiled rich kid, if you ask the right people. But it's good. I like people with a gray streak in there somewhere. I'm sorry if Red Robin's been giving you a hard time."

He smiled and ordered her her Crown Royal, with a Mike's Hard Lemonade for himself. "I'll act gray long before I ever turn it at least." He ran a hand through his hair with a smile. "And I don't give much a damn what Captain Testosterone wants to get uppity about. Better things to do. Like have drinks with beautiful women." Owen winks at her.

Amelia chuckles and tries not to look in the direction of the pool tables. "He's a good guy, just eccentric. He kept me from getting into some trouble at a bad time. I prefer my trouble be well-timed and generally unnoticed."

She seems to be considering something for a moment. It's been a long time since she's been to a club with someone just willing to have fun. "How do you feel about dancing? Movies end pretty early, after all."

"Good enough for this outfit anyways." Owen rests his arms on the table, leaning in as he speaks to her. "so what sort of trouble do you care to get into?"

His eyes turn upwards as he thinks over that last offer. "That.. sounds fine by me. Modern, ballroom, swing? What's your pleasure?"

She leans in equally close, grinning. "Ah, but one should never learn such things by being told. Discovery is more fun."

What 'trouble' is changes on a daily basis, depending on what someone is telling her not to do, or what opportunities present themselves. Truth be told, she has all the time in the world to be whatever any promising situation calls for to quell the boredom. "Not ballroom. Never ballroom. I had enough of that torture as a child. Modern; there's a place in Metropolis that has an amazing DJ for Latin pop and trance night. Everything Ricky Martin has been mercifully banned, and they close with jazz and blues."

Owen grins and takes his drinks from the waitress as she return, nodding. "Sounds as good as anything. I was really thinking of somewhere around here for dinner and a movie though, so can you come up with transport? Whenever works for you works for me."

"As long as you don't have some aversion to mystical teleportation, I can take us anywhere in the world in a few jumps. Well, I've only had limited experience with taking people with me, but you've already proven yourself a gambler."

He shrugs and shakes his head. "No issue for me. Worked with Kadabra a bit, and like you said, risk ain't nothin'." He pauses, then grins. "Go ahead and beam me up."
