He’s not sure how long he’s been here: possibly several days by now. There have been several torture sessions, and Tula is always there. She is, after all, the only one there with the strength to hurt him.
She’s stronger than he remembered; he imagines that if their story about how long they’ve had her is correct, they’d likely have experimented somewhat on her - perhaps made some enhancements.
He can say one thing for this: he’s had plenty of time to think. When the ghosts rose up in Atlantis, and Arthur faced the threat,
Tula returned too. They'd talked then... tried to reach a sense of closure. And they made the best out of the time they had. But apparently her ghost had never left, even after she faded from appearance. It still remained.
And at last he thinks he may have figured it out. If her body was still alive somehow - even if HIVE didn't know how it happened - her ghost wouldn't have been able to go to the realm of the dead. It would be like someone astrally projecting... but without a cord connecting to her body.
This does mean, according to his mystic studies, that her body would be a Hollow right now. And that means that if any demons come across it, it could be very bad news.
There are still many things that don't make sense about any of this. But at least some of the pieces are coming together.
Another rake of Tula's sharp fingernails across his chest, drawing more blood. He doesn't cry out.
