Inside and Outside

After a couple of minutes of working through the vent system, they manage to light down inside the jailing complex.   Sand's a bit annoyed at the amount of time that took...he had gotten used to seeping through cracks and all that...but he presses on.

Two minutes (and a couple of random guards KOed later), they find the holding area...and those

And then...boom.

Sand remote-detonates the Kobra Bomb, and immediately, all communication to and from the island is immediately, violently severed. "Go." Sand says over the com to whoever is listening, as he presses a button on his inhibitor that causes it to fall into the ground.

He then rounds the corner and engulfs the two metas, along with the stationed guards, in a wave of sand.

"What th...GLLLLGGGGGGGG"

Knockout sees the wave coming but doesn't react in time, and swallows sand.

Icicle is a bit faster, he even manages to get to his comm unit before the wave hits. "We got..." is all that manages to get out of his mouth.

As the initial wave clears a path to the holding cell for the Mother of Champions, Eve motions Tara forward. "Door looks like it can be ripped off, you have the strength for that?" she says to Tara.

She nods and rips the door off. It takes more effort then she thought it would, but it doesn't show in her actions.

Inside, there is what appears to be a well-kept efficiency...not at all like your typical jail cell. However, in the center lies the Mother of Champions, hooked up to enough medical equipment to resemble someone on intensive care.

Eve looks over the setup. She knows Tara is more than competent at medicine, however...

"Don't have time to unhook her." She walks over and concentrates.

tzee...tzee...tzee...VOMP!

A large, black disc begins to grow underneath both Eve and the Mother.

Tara can feel the breeze as an arrow flies just over her left shoulder and right into the back of Nightshade, burying itself just under her right shoulderblade.

She cries aloud as the arrow hits her. It struck WELL.

But Eve holds it together enough for both her and the medical setup...with the Mother in it...to disappear through the gateway. Two seconds before the one minute leeway period expired.

There are now three more arrows...one towards the general direction where Nightshade WAS, two more heading towards Tara.

Cramped quarters and Nightshade and Mother need cover. She doesn't go by the name "shield," for nothing.

This is going to hurt a lot, but the objective will be covered.

The entire air in the complex suddenly drops to about 20 below zero as Icicle uses his abilities to freeze the vaporized water molecules in the air to attempt to immobilize Sand.

"Damnit, Slade's going to be pissed."

"That's the idea, Mahkent." Sand says, as he reforms into his human shape. "Tara, we're leaving."

The next arrows Merlyn fires is going to hit a solid wall of Sand that's formed right in front of him, blocking the hallway.

Tara just grimaces and nods as she takes point. On her way out though - one hard punch into the ground to shake the Society off their feet.

Tara has the right idea - Sand builds on it by making the complex shake. The building is solid but not built for meta-level events as the rock falls down to impede the progress of their enemies.

"You going to make it?" Sand says.

Tara shrugs her uninjured shoulder. "Nightshade and Mom are out?" It's the most she's said since Washington and she's moving and bleeding as she asks.
