Superboy is grabbing on to Donna, everyone else piling on. They had to stop her, they had to find out what she knew about the others. Then, a flash of bright light, and he's up in the air over some small town. He fell to the ground with a loud 'thud', and picked himself up, looking around. "... The fuck?!" He said, confused as all hell. Where was he? Where was everyone else? Where was Donna?

'Great work Patton. second mission as team leader, and you might have gotten everyone teleported all over the place, or worse.' He thought at himself, which got him kind of worked up, but he quickly cot a hold of himself. He was going to figure this out, he was going to find everyone ... he just doesn't exactly know how yet. His thoughts are interrupted by a scream, as curious people had come out of buildings to see what had happened, run away as soon as they see him. That was ... weird.

"Hands up! Do it or I'll shoot!" Kon hears someone shouting from behind him, and he turns around to see a very scared looking cop, gun pointed straight at Kon. Not exactly a threat to Conner, but panicky + gun is never a good mix. "Calm down, dude. I'm not going to-" Kon started, but he was interrupted. The cop fired a shot, which pinged off of Conner's forehead harmlessly. In the blink of an eye, Kon was in front of the cop, and he grabbed the gun. "Put that down before you hurt someone." Kon said, but the guy was already running off, calling for back-up. Kon just sighed. "This is gonna suck."

It takes a little more than half an hour for the Titans to get to Sunnyside, Washington, but every minute crawls along Cassie's skin like centipedes in her fur. Every second they're not there is a second Superboy can spend killing innocent civilians -- though Oracle says that he hasn't started doing that yet. Satellite pictures show the people of the town successfully fleeing to safety, covered by the local police. It's...strange.

Cassie glances around at the other members of her team. Static is pushing the T-jet to its limits, face grim as he listens to his dead best friend's "Backpack" scan the airwaves for anything that could give them a hint to Superboy's plans. Secret is cooing distractedly and stroking Kid Devil's hair as he twitches and snuffles from his crouched position on the floor next to her seat. Neither of them look particularly concerned, but he hasn't looked concerned since he turned twenty, and Secret...well, Secret's always been off. Hawk and Dove are whispering quietly to each other in Hawaiian, looking pale but determined. Their first time fighting this monster, but both of them probably want payback for what he'd done to their home island. Slobo's eyes are closed and he's going through his breathing exercises. He looks like he's in pain and Cassie wishes they could have left him back at Titans' Tower, but this is an all-hands situation. She glances out the window to make sure that Supergirl is still keeping pace with the plane and hasn't gone on ahead to try and take her rage out on her cousin's semi-clone.

"Okay guys, remember," Cassie says, tapping her comm so that Supergirl will hear her too. "We hit him fast, hit him hard, and no one stays in close enough for him to grab them. We all know what he can do with that tactile telekinesis of his, and we're not going to let that happen. Secret, do you think you can keep a leash on K.D.?"

"Mm..." Secret answers, tearing her eyes away from whatever hellish imaginings she'd fastened to the ceiling. "I suppose."

"Good," Cassie said. "Hawk, Dove, you two stick with Slobo. Static, cover me as best you can. Supergirl--"

'Supergirl' knows what to do, Giganta, her teammate hisses over the comm. Supergirl is a full-blooded Kryptonian and knows how to handle this faker.

Cassie grit her teeth. "Supergirl will never be on the JLA if she dies doing something stupid," she says. "Don't. Let. Him. Catch you."

--

The T-jet screams over Sunnyside. It's not very subtle at all. Static throws it into hover-mode and the team throws themselves out through the doors, flyers carrying the non-flyers.

Supergirl is, naturally, the first one to attack "Superboy".

Conner hears jet engines, and smells the burning fuel, so he flies up above the town to try and see what was coming. It was the T-jet alright, no mistaking that, but it looks different. More worn, and a few other weird things, but he couldn't help but feel a little relieved. Finally something familiar, maybe he could figure out what in the hell is going on. Then he saw Supergirl flying along side the T-jet, and she looked all sorts of pissed. Okaaaay, little weirdness there.

"Hey what's goin-" His sentence gets cut short when Supergirl smashes straight into him at ... looked like Mach 2. He's more surprised than hurt, but the hit's still enough to stun him. He feels the angle change, Supergirl adjusting her course, and then he's getting plowed into the ground by her fists.

A quick burst of heat vision to stun her, and a solid right hook should knock her back. "Okay, what the hell?!?" He shouts, annoyed at the constant stream of WTF coming at him today.

Cassie swears in surprise, and she's not alone in her reaction.

"When did he get heat vision?!" Static shouts as he flings loose metallic debris at Superboy to keep him distracted. Dove runs over to help Supergirl back to her feet, and Secret streams away like smoke in the wind.

"It doesn't matter!" she shouts back. All it means is that she needs to get him in her lasso faster. She knuckles as fast as possible for higher ground, and hopes she can get there fast enough to keep her team safe.

The shower of metal didn't hurt him, just surprised him for a second or two. Well, this isn't exactly the best situation. Looks like his friends are on the warpath to beat his ass. Question is, why? And on top of that, how's he supposed to figure this out and stop them from beating him into a pulp?

Gotta be something from all the books he read? What would Clark do? Then, he gets a reassured look in his eyes. Ideas are forming, things are happening here. "Okay, got one shot at this." He mutters to himself. His eyes light up with heat vision, firing at that little platform-thingy of Static's. The one thing he remembered from science class, you heat magnets, they lose their magnet-ness. It saved his ass against Dr. Polaris once. Hopefully, Static'd be distracted a second or two by the fall.

'What is of supreme importance in war is to attack the enemy's strategy.' That's from Sun Tzu's Art of War. It means mess up your enemy's plan if you want to win. And looks like the plan is to pile on Conner, and beat his face in, without letting him get a hand on them. Okay, he can work with that.

Conner lets the group tighten a little more, and then takes off, straight up into the air as fast as he can go. He hears the sonic boom ripple behind him. Hopefully, the concussive force will stun them for a minute. Buy him a little breathing room, and a chance to talk. If it didn't, well, the rest of this fight will probably be pretty quick.

He banks, flying back down, about 100 feet above the Titans. "Guys, I don't want to fight you! It's me, Conner, remember!? I'm on your side!" He shouts, a note of pleading exasperation in his voice. He doesn't want to fight his friends, and honestly, this whole thing was freaking him out a little.

Huh, that's weird. The last Superboy never spoke. Something about his voice, about that name, 'Conner', makes something stir and mutter to itself somewhere in the back of Cassie's mind.

It looks like Static has been stunned by the fall, but Slobo and Hawk seem to have him covered. Secret hasn't reappeared yet, and Kid Devil also seems to have vanished. Cassie doesn't have time to look for him before Supergirl goes after Superboy/'Conner' again with her heat-vision as well as her fists.

"I don't know any 'Conner'!" she cries. "All I know is that you're a perversion of my cousin's legacy, and I won't have it!"

"Holy shi-!" Conner just gets to start, surprised by just how angry she is. He's cut off when the burst of heat vision catches him in the chest, then an uppercut to the jaw. He flips end-over-end through the air, eventually slamming into the ground with a loud 'thud'.

"Wait- legacy?" Conner says confusedly as he picks himself up. Does that mean Superman is ... is dead?! The initial shock hit him hard. Just what the hell happened?!

While Giganta can't follow all of Supergirl's moves, she can read them well enough to tell where the Kryptonian is going to put her target and is already moving for the best location when Superboy hits the ground. Clouds of dust have been thrown up by his impact with the ground, but as soon as it clears she'll be ready to catch him in her lasso and zap him so full of magic lightning that they could use him to light Sunnyside for the next five years.

...Except, she realizes, and quickly knuckles back several feet, that the clouds around him aren't dust.

"Didn't your masters tell you?" Secret purrs as she tries to pull Superboy through 'the Other Side'. She probably won't take him far; and even if she does, she'll bring him right back, but any journey on the Secret Express is bound to leave anyone unsettled. Especially someone as steeped in death as Superboy is.

"Superman's dead."
